Did you use the Nokia Software Updater or the OTA updates? The NSU update will wipe the system, whereas the OTA update won't.

How or where do you get NSU or OTA update?

OTA is the over-the-air update - you should find this by going to "App manager" on the N900 and clicking on "Update". This is being rolled out by region though, so it may not yet be available for you.

NSU is the Nokia Software Update tool - I've not bothered with this yet myself so I don't know where to get the updates from offhand. You should be able to search for this either on the forums or the wiki though.

Try rebooting. If that doesn't work, disable the Extras-devel and Extras-testing catalogs. If you still get the same error, uninstall any apps you've installed from those catalogs.

All I had to do was reboot to get it to work.

It's in a reboot loop. Was your battery fully charged before doing the update? If the battery is too low then you'll need to charge it externally before the N900 will start up properly. If not, try removing the battery altogether then reinstalling it.

to those people who think it's snapier after a reboot, is that compared to normally after a reboot? I find mine slowly degrades over time, such that if I reboot after about 5 days I get noticibly snapier performance for a bit. I'm currently assuming performance improvements are due to a reboot more than due to any significant fix in this update.
