viny you are gonna have to install this- if you dont you wont be able to install the new firmware(well i think so)
and the memory will free up again once you have updated so you can just reinstall the games/apps and once the games apps are out off extras devel and are trusted installs they wont fill your root. (again not 100% but think) and you shouldn't fill up your root to much as a rule |

seems the same, not much difference. Maybe a bit snappier, but not enough that to make me go "wow!"

Ok,
Always trying to understand why I can see this fu****g update ... So, someone having installed the firmware update properly can post the output of : /var/cache/apt/archives # dpkg -l "*kernel*" | grep ii ii kernel 2.6.28-20094102.6+0m5 Flashable Linux kernel ii kernel-flasher 2.6.28-20094102.6+0m5 Linux kernel updater ii kernel-modules 2.6.28-20094102.6+0m5 Linux kernel modules A++ |

It's to the point where I'm needing to re-learn my 'swipes' in the UI in order to avoid flying past the items I'm looking for. Definitely an increase in the speed of that action for me. Another place I'm noticing a dramatic difference is in "All Albums" view in the MP -- pre-update, it was annoyingly laggy to the point that I just stopped using that view (note that I was nit-picking here, it's not like it was busted or anything, just not much fun). Now it's smooth as can be (I'm definitely keeping an eye on this one though). Moving between windows/apps also seems to be marginally smoother, and the browser has seen an increase in page-loads and link responsiveness as well as others have reported. Overall, the result has been a noticeable improvement in the way the device 'feels' to use. Very nice :) |
