What version of W7 are you running? 64bit yes, but is it home, pro, business or ultimate?

And please, do your best to spell out the wortds properly when you reply, I don't want to have to translate from text speak.....

In that case you can't install a virtual XP box on it.

Your best best is to use a linuxLiveCD to boot from - easily created, Google it, to create a one time boot disk. Once you have booted into the Linux environment you will be able to flash your phone without issue.

You will need to flash both the fiasco image and also the eMMC image - I take it you *had* NITDroid installed as you are flashing with Mido.Fayad's fiasco image - and the only reason for this (as far as I'm aware) is to allow you to install NITDroid. On this basis I would guess that you either went to uninstall or upgrade your NITDroid install and instead of cleaning out only the Android /home you also cleaned out your own Maemo /home, resulting in your reboot loops and the black screen with purple bar.

I'm surprised that you managed to flash fiasco successfully from a 64bit W7 install to be honest, as 64bit W7 is supposed to be incompatible with Maemo-Flasher.

Seriously, Linux LiveCD to boot from and flash both fiasco and eMMC without rebooting in between them. The reboot switch is the
Code:

-R
so on the first flash, omit this from the command you input into the prompt.

This should clear up any problems that you have, but will lose all the data you have in your phone.

And I know it's tempting, but NITDroid is not for people who are not massively technically minded. It takes a modicum of expertise to install, uninstall, apply fixes, set up APN's, etc etc so if you are not that way inclined, my best advice to you is to leave it well alone....

Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

Strangest problem, and I still haven't figured out how to fix it. Found a workaround though...

On my main desktop I'm running Win7 32bit with all the latest updates installed. I tried flashing my N900 to give it a fresh start, and I figured I should flash both the fiasco and emmc. The strange problem was that the fiasco worked perfectly with just the flasher installed.

Flashing the emmc however failed every time, no matter what I tried. I disabled driver signing, I installed libusb and loaded custom drivers (the N900 showed in device manager), I even installed the latest Nokia Software Updater and tried updating the firmware through it. I also tried installing the fiasco followed by emmc (wrong order, but I just wanted to see if it would do something), I tried installing the emmc followed by the fiasco. NOTHING worked.

I did not try installing Windows XP mode on the desktop, or a linux bootable CD because I had another workaround. I booted my old windows XP 32bit computer, installed flasher, flashing emmc and fiasco worked perfectly.

The strangest thing is that about half a year ago I flashed my N900 on this exact same Windows 7 32Bit computer and it worked perfectly. My guess is that one of Microsoft's updates somehow messed up the USB system, bringing it inline with the Windows 7 64bit version.
