Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

guys one more doubt ..i got n900 through amazon USA and i dono exactly which Regional Update was present ....Unaware of that i previously flashed with PR 1.3 india version and i faced problems .. ..

Will this be the reason for all those problems i faced ?

so now hoping that i had initial settings to be USA Firmware, now i flashed with pr1.3 USA version.

is this right?

I successfully reflashed n900 about 5 times on Windows 7 ultimate 64bit , sometimes I got "Suitable USB device not found" message but I tried again and worked fine . :)

Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

guys it may sound weird but today i wore a tight jean and placed my n900 in the left side pocket.before placing my phone i sent a msg and phone was normal and after a while when i took i found message undelivered and also device memory full and my n900 gave the older problems.

i guess too much pressure over the phone could be the possible reason ..

is it possible that device memory full error could be caused by pressuring the phone ? :(

Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

I´m not expert but there is little that you can do if internal memory is faulty.

Do you use external sd inside N900?
Have you overclocked N900?
Battery off, give it 10 minutes, put it back and see what happens.

Btw.
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=63975
Has fsck but now that your device is booting it´s probably not helpful. Try to use power search and search for fsck and read those threads completely before doing anything.

Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

try this

You can use Microsoft Virtual PC - Also known as XP Mode. Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions of Windows 7 come with Windows XP mode, but must be downloaded and installed before use.
1. Connect your N900 in flasher mode; Hold u on the device keyboard, then connect the USB cable.
2. Wait for Windows to install the appropriate drivers.
3. Start Microsoft Virtual PC / Windows XP mode/
4. Allow the Virtual PC to have access to your N900: (On the top bar): USB > Nokia N900 (Update mode) (Attach). (If it doesn't say (update mode), you didn't enter update mode correctly by pressing "u". Remove the cable and try again.)
5. Wait for Windows to install the appropriate drivers.
6. When it is finished, proceed with the normal flashing steps above.

There have been numerous reports on the forums of people trying to flash the rootfs/FIASCO and eMMC with Windows 7 64 bit XP Mode/Virtual PC, where the rootfs/FIASCO image flashed just fine, but the eMMC image stays at "no suitable device found. Waiting". Again allow the Virtual PC to have access to your N900: (On the top bar): USB > Nokia N900 but *NOTICE* now it will be Nokia N900 (PC-Suite mode) (Attach). Now the flashing will start normally.

works like charm ...

confirmed working

i can confirm this works like a charm. for those still having problems of ...waiting.

1. first check to see where the flasher-3.5 is installed.
2. if it is in a folder like C:\Program Files (x86), then unistall it
3. reinstall it back on C:\Program Files. NOTICE THE FOLDER. BE SURE YOU CHANGE IT TO C:\Program Files during the reinstallation.
4 then follow the steps as outlined by earlier by codetracer.

should work like a charm. cheers.

Type in the following commands into the command prompt with hitting enter at the end of each line. when i type flasher-3.5.exe -F emmc.bin -f -R and hit enter, the usb symbol in the upper right corner of my phone disappears and the lib-usb win 32 also disappears in the device manager on the computer. suitable usb device not found, wating.

On this basis I would guess that you either went to uninstall or upgrade your NITDroid install and instead of cleaning out only the Android /home you also cleaned out your own Maemo /home, resulting in your reboot loops and the black screen with purple bar.

I'm surprised that you managed to flash fiasco successfully from a 64bit W7 install to be honest, as 64bit W7 is supposed to be incompatible with Maemo-Flasher.

Seriously, Linux LiveCD to boot from and flash both fiasco and eMMC without rebooting in between them. The reboot switch is the
Code:

-R
so on the first flash, omit this from the command you input into the prompt.

This should clear up any problems that you have, but will lose all the data you have in your phone.

And I know it's tempting, but NITDroid is not for people who are not massively technically minded. It takes a modicum of expertise to install, uninstall, apply fixes, set up APN's, etc etc so if you are not that way inclined, my best advice to you is to leave it well alone....

you are spot on, that whole nitdroid episode got me in this situation, i too am running win 7 64 and im not able to flash the emmc, im gonna try linux live cd and pray because iv thrown the kitchen sink and the bathtub at this problem and nothing works.

i had the same problem ! I hooked up an E72 and windows automatically downloaded all the drivers for the e72 ! if u have a friend that has an e72 ask him to let u borrow it see if that works.

Have you by chance read the Wiki or any of the reflashing threads...

Have you noticed the search button in the upper right hand corner?

The reason I ask these things is because this is pretty elemental to the N900 and you're not new here.

I can't imagine anybody would need more than this...

Once this message appears, run inf-wizard.exe from libusb-win32 package and create an inf file for "N900 (PC Suite Mode)" and install this inf driver. Then go to Device Manager and update the driver for N900 Phone Parent and the flasher should spring to life.

Hello there. I have tried this before and it worked flawlessly. I now tried to do the same thing again, but every time I open flasher 3.5, the window simply pops up and closes right away... any ideas on where I went wrong?

It seems as tough the problem was with placing the flasher in Program Files folder, instead of Program Files x86..

I am now stuck at this window, phone is loading with 5 circles, stuck on the second one.. What to do?

you should flash emmc first without -R then flash the kernel firmware with -R

Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

Hello.
I have problems with eMMC flashing, it doesn't matter if I'm doing this on 7 or XP. My phone connects and stays in update mode, but when I type the command for eMMC flash and press enter, it disconnects from Update mode and stays with this 5 dots on screen. Can someone tell me how can I get this done ? Or should I take my n900 to Nokia Care ?
Greetings :)

Maemo-flasher 3.5 does not work at all in Windows 7 64bit. I followed the guide and it just hangs saying "Suitable USB device not found". Yes, I did the 'u' thing while connecting the cable.

Any ideas how to proceed?

If You install Nokia Ovi Suite and connect your N900 you can update the software in extra, even on a Windows 7 64bit pc

Tip: Don't save the .ini file in the system32 folder as suggested by libusb. In my experience it fail to update the driver in the next step. Save in the desktop folder for example.
