Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

Friends,

It's been quite some time since I last re-flashed my N900. I'm currently using Windows 64-bit (Ultimate) though I still use Ubuntu. I tried out the steps here and I confirm that this works. :)

As a way of giving back to the community, I made a video tutorial for this and will be uploading in YouTube. It's an end-to-end tutorial for flashing, to include:

1. Preparation of needed files (downloading the flasher, the image files, installation of the flasher app, etc.)
2. Preparation for enabling flashing for 64-bit OS
3. Actual flashing

By the way, I previously uploaded 2 YouTube videos (one in MS Windows, one in Ubuntu); those are the videos that are linked in the Wiki Tutorial.

Hope this helps. :)

EDIT: Friends, here's the YouTube video. Hope this helps. :)

BTW this also works in Windows 8 x64 pretty much the same way except that you have to disable driver signature enforcement prior installing libusb.

Re: How to reflash N900 in Windows 7 64bit

the best way 2 flash DEAD n900 is enable RD mode on device
then download "libusb"

http://sourceforge.net/projects/libusb-win32/

plug phone (event if is not in boot mode after rd mode just hold U while detecting in libusb install) and
simply install nokia driver on your pc, 1. run -F vanilla.img.bin -f -R
2. -F fiasco.bin -f -R (sometimes : 2 then 1 and again 2)
remember to download latest fiasco and vanilla imgs !

Searching on the internet and this forum for links.

Try using the search string RX-51_2009SE_21.2011.38-1_PR for example.

Nokia has removed the images so you could complain to them and ask for a copy.

I did some research, but could only find COMBINED versions ( http://www.mrcrab.net/nokia/Nokia_N9...n=21.2011.38.1 ), which is nice, but I'm also interested in the VANILLA version.
Maybe one of those file is the VANILLA without saying so ?

Of note: a lot of the sites I find when searching for RX-51_something merely links to tablets-dev.nokia.com ...

With my message I was also hoping someone with proper links would update the wiki, to the benefit of not-just-me ;)

[Edit] Or I could possibly take the VANILLA I just found on older firmwares ( http://www.mrcrab.net/nokia/Nokia_N9...on=2.2009.51.1 ), along with its corresponding COMBINED file ?
Though now, there's no "COMBINED" file per se in that version, so I take it the file is actually (for USA) RX-51 2009SE 2.2009.51-1.002 PR F5 002 ARM.bin ?

I'm sorry for the noobishness, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around this... :(

[Final Edit] I noticed this thread about missing firmwares, and for the sake of consistency I'm pasting the link endsormeans gave as an answer (which is a post by scy containing archived versions of the firmwares, flashers and such):
