All I hear about is how awesome the Droid is at work, how it does GPS navigation and this and that and the other (intended Seinfeld reference) I thought I'd create this thread not for us to be braggers. Braggers suck. But I want to have something to say as to why N900 is so awesome compared to DROID/IPHONE, when I hear other people bragging and I do not as well express the hype.

What I've got so far is:

Can u watch porn on your phone? Can u go to deezer or pandora? Can u play flash games? I can! My phone runs flash!

I can play a game, pause it, turn on music, surf the web with the music still playing, leave the page open and return right to where the game was (with music still playing) without reloading it. I can multitask!

Also, most apps are free!

Having a resistive screen means using the stylus is highly accurate compared to multitouch, no more clicking a link accidentally with your finger when trying to scroll! I did this ALOT on my ipod touch, its alot easier with a thinner stylus than a finger.

The Droid at most supports 16gb memory if u upgrade the microSD card. The iphone at most is 32gb without being upgradable. The N900 has 32gb built in and has the ability to add another 16gb with a microSD for a total of 48gb (which I have)!

you can change you battery youself too, also you can also get in the system without needing to wait for a jailbreak for the newest update
i agree with all you say except watching porn as n900 does not work well yet for one handed use :D

Just requires practice! No really most people make phone calls and text standing, whereas other tasks like video is watched sitting down.

Built in terminal in ifone? (nope) FM transmitter? (none) Infrared ??

Oh, and you don't need any Jailbreak or Cyder (which violates warranty) to install whatever you want for free...

For common users I think the integrated im and skype stuff is really impressive.

For a linux nerd there's no explanation needed. Full linux with root, xterm and vi. That's like wishing for more wishes. :)

I'm sick of threads like this, they always end up with arguments and bring tolling fanboys that simply find and look for threads like this in google.
Then the fanboy claims it has an n900 and this and that sucks and devs and mods rush in to solve his imaginary problems.
Problem here is the mods are too tolerant and won't close neither your thread neither theirs.

And so your pride ends in distruptinf the forum activity.
C'mon guys don't go down to "their" level!

I don't like these kind of threads either, I just do my part in educating the users who consult me, I converted 6 users to Maemo and the N900 already, sure they need help, that's what the community is for.. we should all try to be fair for any platform and give the unbiased view on the merits of each. Surely Maemo and the N900 is not for everyone, but with help anybody could start enjoying this awesome platform and solid hardware.

the devices should be speaking for itselfs so lets not sink to competitors level but give just as objective information about maemo5 & n900 as possible.

so, if somebody starts a thread: "can i xxx with n900", there is a good way to brag with your
a) own technical knowledge
b) open platform (if there is a solution available)

I think we have enough of those posts. I agree with ossipena that a thread which focused on what capabilities the N900 has versus what capabilities the competition has would be very useful, both to those of us, like myself, who haven't made a decision yet, and to users who might not know the possibilities that the N900 opens up.

Also note that most people buy a phone for what i can do or can easily be made to do. Multi-tasking is a very good feature which is available out of the box on the N900. There are also, I assume, very useful apps available here on at the Ovi store. Capabilities that are available only after you get root and execute a series of Linux commands are much less useful to the general public.
