Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
as i tried to install the app it said:
"conflict with programpackages: libqt4-maemo5-svg (4.6.0~git20100111-0maemo1)" ... EDIT: removed the package via apt-get remove *libqt4-maemo5-svg* it uninstalled fmrdsnotify too. so there is a conflict between sib and this app. then i did an apt-get autoremove which uninstalled all other qt-packages and some unused packages from an app-update i did before. now sib is installing without any problem :) |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
got the update notification....was having trouble with previous release too....run xterm, apt-get update and SIB IS WORKING AGAIN!....love this app....
Yo plastic, maybe you can add more INFO onto the INFO tab. For example, shortcut key for switching between dual-audio (anime) and multiple subtitle. Some anime have dual-audio and subs so it would be helpful to know which key to press to switch between audio...can't stand dubbed anime....LOL...:P |

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Okay. Thanks, Plastik. I guess I will look around mplayer's commandline parameter and see if I can pick up useful things...can't have you do EVERYTHING for us....lol...:P....I will look into that conf thingy.
EDIT: After a quick googling...I FOUND IT!....Test it on an anime movie and it works. "#" to cycle through audio (you have to HOLD the FN key (then press D) instead of pressing it once) "J" to cycle through subtitle HERE is the link to a list of shortcuts for mplayer. SOME of them may not work though. CHEERS!:D |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
@plastik
I was wondering when you will re-enable the kinetic scrolling? I miss it very much.... =( |

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
I've been using SiB since day one it came out and I never had such issues.
I play all my mp3's with standard media player and videos with mplayer+sib. I highly doubt it's SiB anyways. All it is ais a gui front end sending scripts to launch the mplayer. So maybe your mplayer is causing the issue. Make sure it's the latest version etc. |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
^ yes I have a last version...
KMplayer dont have problem work like a charm SIB always do that.... |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
I just installed the latest version of SiB 0.0.4-1.
- Smaller fonts in the video list. I can see more videos files at once! - Nice and colorful background. - Kinetic scrolling is back!!! - The folder selection is back to the maemo file manager style. (I actually really liked the previous style where I could save shortcuts to the folders on the left so when i remove a folder, I can quickly re-add the folder back instead of searching for it again. But it's fine either way.) Anyways, thanks for plastik for the much needed update. =) |

Actually I didn't change the file selection dialog at all, that's just the new Qt file selection dialog which has been aligned with the rest of Maemo UI ;) |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Hello, I have conflicts in updating to 0.0.4-2 with libqt4-maemo5-network 4.6.2...
Is there anything I can do? There's another app requiring this lib... |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
I personally don't like the gradient background at all. I think it's ugly :)
Program itself is super though! |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
I love the new version! Kinetic scroll is awesome...I stop using SIB for a while because I can't stand scrolling in the previous version. Glad Plastik got kinetic scroll back it. Much thankx for your effort...>:D

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
btw Plastik, I have an idea for possibly a better gui style for SiB.
Have you tried the app called Petrovich? (it's an app to send files) Something similar to that line.. I would love to have my favourite video folders listed on the left. or even just be able to browse folders just like Petrovich but be able to set a default "main" root folder upon startup This is because I have various folders for my videos. (Music videos, tv shows, movies, animation etc) Then choose the video file from the right. (just like Petrovich) (But on the bottom of that file, showing the remaining time, video size etc.) Once you click on the video, it'll display a menu to Play / Resume. No idea if this is possible, but Petrovich's interface is what i would really like for my video files. =) Anyways, just an idea. hehe. (I'm not a programmer so I have no clue on how difficult/easy this is....) |

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
a) Nice, nice app. Simple, robust. Love it. Needed, too.
b) Small bug when sorting, the last file is first, then all the others. [cut babble about my own bugs]. Anyway, list is ZABCDE...Y. You get the point. c) I would love to see a tab in there, for audio. Same setup, except it lists music. Could be quite handy for a replacement of the original player (not that it's that bad, but it can't hurt to have an alternative) Again, nice app, no issues here. ETA: Isn't QT4.6 banned from the repos temporarily? Maybe mine worked because I already had them over. |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
I'd just be happy to get SiB working....

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Hi,
First of all, I would like to thank the author for a wonderful job until now. I love the application because it uses the Mplayer very nicely to play even those clips that the internal player refuses to play. Now I have a simple question ;) - In the add folders, I would like to put the uPnP (and DLNA) sources that I have in my home network. Until now I have not been able to figure out how to make my device list those files too. I have a limited number of files on the device but most of my media is lying in the Buffalo Live NAS server which is able to do uPnP. I have tried to play the files using the internal player and KMplayer but both fail to play most of the files there. I would like to try out with SiB but don't know how! Hagar |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
I also have a small continuation question.
How can you see clearly the location of the files like in File explorer. I have trailers and main movies etc. in different places. But all that I get is a long list of the files. Only way to separate them is by watching the length of the clip. If there was a easy way to go to a desired folder only.... Or is there? |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Sorting got fixed after a reboot.

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend

Only way currently is for you to rename all the files with a different prefix for its categories. Then you can sort by file names at least and they will all be sorted in order in one big list. |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Thanks jakiman!
Can anyone guide me, how to get the file listing from the uPnP/DLNA sources? There is a button to add the folder to monitor but how do I get the uPnP souces monitored? |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
@plastik
There hasn't been any updates for the past month so I was wondering if you had anything new planned? Here's some of my suggestions / wishlist: 1. Allow custom mplayer script for launching the video files from SiB. (dunno. via some conf file maybe?) (or maybe you can just create such option in SiB?) I rather watch some videos full screen than watch it in smaller screen with correct ratio. So I would like to use -zoom option in mplayer. (or zoom=yes in config file) 2. Instead of Info button, maybe change this to a delete button? (so I can quickly delete video files I finished watching) Delete confirmation is needed I guess. =) |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
yeah, I also want the SIB can zoom the video like CorePlayer approximately 10% zoom size small ...
if anyone could edit the config SIB ... |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Sorry for the late reply guys, I'm currently quite busy doing other stuff as I just moved.

I was thinking about adding an advanced settings dialog where you can visually change the Mplayer settings, though. Quote:

I had buy N900 for few days. Luckily I had succeed installed both Mplayer+ SIB. May I ask a stupid question that: 1./ What is advantage when we launch mplayer via sib with specific parameters. 2./ How to do this? 3./ Can I play subtitle with separately file .srt? Thanks Yin |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Is there somebody help me to play Subtitle:confused:
Thanks in advance Yin |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
I just have a problem using sib player. When ever i am forwarding or reversing the movie the voice and the video is not symetric. The video is coming before and the voice is coming with some delay.

2. You can do it from xterminal by using the mplayer via CLI. But not from SiB gui. 3. I believe so. Haven't tried it myself. I know smi files work however. So if all fails, just use a converter to convert srt to smi. |
Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Is plastik still working on this? I'm looking for a new version linked against the PR1.2 QT libraries, as I'd like to get the libqt4-maemo5 libraries off my N900 (and they'll be disappearing from the repositories soon).

SiB 0.0.5-2 now depends on the PR1.2 Qt libs and is available from the extras-testing repository.

Re: SiB - mplayer gui frontend
Plans, yes but not sure when I'm going to work on it :p
Besides of being lazy there are also reasons for not extending the program. I thought about creating an extended settings page to control the mplayer settings (by writing the ~/.mplayer/config file) but I'm not sure if that's really necessary. I believe the default mplayer settings are just right and only few users do really need to modify them. And they do get excellent support in this forum :). Did I mention that SiB stands for simplicity is beautiful? :p |
