Re: Move files to root? Help please!
You should be able to do this in File Manager - tap & hold on the file until the popup appears, then choose Move.
|
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
you can't access root through file manager
|
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
You said moving from /home/user/MyDocs to /media/mmc1, both of which are accessible through File Manager.

Re: Move files to root? Help please!
Really? I didn't know sorry. how? :)
|
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
When you launch File Manager, you're presented with 2 starting points - if you select the phone then you're in MyDocs, and if you select the media card, you're at /media/mmc1.

Re: Move files to root? Help please!
I'm confused. I'm trying to install this onto the internal memory:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=18436 When i get to point 14, if i do as it says and enter: mkdir /media/mmc2/raData it comes up with an error claiming that the file or directory does not exist. If i change it to: mkdir /media/mmc1/raData it works fine. I presumed the guy got it wrong and mmc1 was the internal memory. |

Re: Move files to root? Help please!
/media/mmc2 was the internal memory card on the N800 (which had two memory cards). You'll definitely want to use /media/mmc1 instead.

Re: Move files to root? Help please!
Oh, and you'd be better posting to that thread if you want specific help on installing it.

Re: Move files to root? Help please!
I'm pretty sure at this point all i need to do is move the data.tar.gz to media/mmc1/ and extract it.
So my question is how do i do that? mmc2 doesn't appear on my file manager =\ |
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
You mean MMC1? Thats what Rob1n already said.. the file manager calls it "Media Card".
Code:
mv /home/user/MyDocs/data.tar.gz /media/mmc1 |
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
Thanks for the code, it's extracting now :)
And yeah i meant mmc1 but in my file manager it doesn't display "media card" anywhere? |
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
It should display an icon of a media card, though the text depends on what the media card has been named.
|
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
It just says N900 with a picture of the phone and nothing else? Or is that what you mean? Cus i was originally on about accessing media/mmc1 in the system directory.
|
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
Do you actually have a memory card installed? It should show up in there alongside the phone in File Manager.
|
Re: Move files to root? Help please!
Nah, i meant, media/mmc1 as in the directory in the root menu.
I've got it working now anyway so it doesn't matter. Thanks for the help guys :) |
