[Maemo 5] List of repositories for 3rd party software for the N900
There are a few apps (such as nuevasync) that I've noticed are not in the default repositories. Where can I find information on how to add more repositories with these apps?
|
Re: Are there 'other' repositories I can add?
nuevasync? wtf?
http://maemo.org/packages/search/?or...e%5D=nuevasync e: oh, you didn't mean a thing. you wanted "'other' repositories", not "other repositories". fcking quotation marks. |

Re: N900 - Maemo 5 Repositories
Aren't the emulators back in extras-* anyway, removing the need for that repo?

Re: N900 - Maemo 5 Repositories
Hi,
thanks for the effort to compile this list but you should add a warning about some of the repositories.. extras-devel: not intended for endusers as it contains unstable software in development wich might mangle your system for good. If you are going to install from there be prepared to reflash your device! extras-testing: should contain stable software with the biggest glitches ironed out. use at own risk non-maemo repositories: those might(!!!) be dangerous to your device as there is no community testing and automated testing like auto-builder at the maemo-repositories. Again: use at own risk as it might brick your device, force you to reflash or eat your children ;-) If you are a "regular" enduser you should stick to extras and Ovi repository, this software can be considered stable and secure to your device. thanks for taking the time to do so. |
Re: N900 - Maemo 5 Repositories
And don't forget the security problems that arise with external repositories. One could supply an "update" for an application you've installed, that uses malicious code to get your passwords.

Newbie question: third party repositories
Hi folks.
I really like the look of some of the software listed on my-maemo.com. I have added their repository using the details listed on their site, but the software doesn't appear in the app manager. Do I need to use apt-get instead? All help appreciated! |
Re: Newbie question: third party repositories
The software listed on my-maemo is software hosted here and it's mostly in the extras-testing repository.

Please provide useful repos for N900
Can someone provide useful repos for must have applications?
|
Re: Please provide useful repos for N900
There are already useful repos, the most important is Maemo.org Extras. Many of the must have apps are there, and it should be in your N900 by default.
