@aenbacka - let me know if you need an alpha/beta tester. I have nothing right now, so anything would be better. :-D

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

I'm ready to test it out whenever you, aenbacka, are ready to publish the client. It's great that someone has time and needed knowledge for doing something like this!

spotify on n900 is gone :-(

Spotify requires correct client version information during login. This is already fixed in the despotify source:
http://despotify.svn.sourceforge.net...&diff_format=h

You may download my patched binary, if you wish, at:
http://rapidshare.com/files/37920711...otify.so.0.0.0

The file shall go to /home/opt/maemo/usr/lib

Then everything works again. Otherwise you may want to wait for the official update to libdespotify.

Hi!

I've replaced libdespotify with the version provided here, but I still get an error message "Client upgrade required", with Yaspot as well as Qtify. I tried rebooting, to ensure the library would be reloaded, but no change.

Could it be related to the new desktop player released today ?

http://rapidshare.com/files/38149396...otify.so.0.0.0

The spotify client version number has changed several times during last couple of days. At the moment the libdespotify version found at the link above works with N900 assuming your Spotify account / desktop client is version 0.4.3.380.g88163066.

As usual, copy to:
/home/opt/maemo/usr/lib

Seems to be outdated once again. Worked for a short time.

Difficult to keep pace with them...

This is libdespotify.so.0.0.0 for client version 0.4.3.383.g278a6e51

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

yaspot requires a premium account though so the invite wont be sufficient...

cjp 2010-05-03 06:41

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

Yeah you need to have Spotify Premium account to be able to use it in a cellular.

A thought came to me: what if you use "Hide user agent" and connect over wifi? Would the Spotify servers know what device you were connecting with? I have a premium account now so I can't try it out.

Another thought related to improving Yaspot: Whenever you open a saved playlist, jump into the "Playlist" view where you have the Pause\Play etc. buttons. Also, a shuffle feature would be nice. :)

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

Its related to spotify client, not web browser. So that trick doesnt do anything useful :)

Okay this need some more explanation. Spotify requires that you have premium to be able to connect with a mobile user client. But despotify based clients does not autenticate as mobile client, BUT here is the big BUT: instead of playing a cat and mouse game between the creators of spotify and despotify they seme to have come to an informal agreement to let users of despotify based clients connect only if they have a premium account.

The reason being that its easy to write a client that saves files of the spotify servers :P among other things

I'm glad you got yours working. After a week mine has just stopped working. Gets stuck at login. Are there error logs stored for this app somewhere? (sorry, noob question) - I haven't found the answer yet.

My YaSpot stopped working right after I upgraded to the Facebook-addon-riddled version of Spotify on my PC. Coincidence? Any way to fix this?

orcocan 2010-05-12 21:06

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

look above at ttseppal's post and link, that worked for me

Funny how it just stopped working. This method worked for me too. Thanks all round!!

Not I can play with qtify & yaspot to see which I prefer :)

but people tent to want to try a service before they pay for it, so these were for them.

Thanks for the new file version.

Edit: mine just stoped working. and qtify saying update requiered, so i think we need new one again...

dam.

any idea?

Damn it. I wonder if we need to somehow hack Spotify (on PC) to not force updates on our accounts or something... :P

orcocan 2010-05-15 20:06

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

im not sure if its becuase of an update, the error im getting is different from the previous "client upgrade required"

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

Indeed, the updated libdespotify.so.0.0.0 doesn't fix the problem. yaspot tells me "failed to search". qtify simply segfaults on login (when it tries to grab playlists)...

This is so damn boring. I have spotify premium and cant use yaspot on my N900:(:(

We need immediatly a fix for this people.

Where are our pro programers, hackers, insane people who can try to find a way to fix this???

I want it to work, too. If I have time through the week, I'll try to take a look. Can't promise anything, though.

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

but I have to admit I did find a backup for music on the road. I'm still really amazed that grooveshark works so smooth in Microb. Flash and all, and less touch friendly than yaspot. but it does the thing while we're waiting for a fix.

orcocan 2010-05-17 21:15

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

grooveshark is really temperamental on my phone... i want yaspot back :-(

I'm using rev. 508 of libdespotify, that I compiled myself, and it works just fine.

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

could somebody please give some advice on how to uninstall the old version of the library and install the new one (i guess it needs to be done on the terminal?)

Thanks...!

Joorin 2010-05-17 21:35

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

As I wrote in the other thread: There is binary incompatibility between version 488 and 508. It actually already starts at the step from 488 to 489.

To get it to work, the yaspot developer needs to make some changes in his code and compile against the new library.

orcocan 2010-05-17 21:38

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

oh ok... so it's not something we can fix ourselves... :(

I noticed your post on the new client but i personally am going to wait until it's been tested by a few users (or ideally promoted to extra testing)

It looks like the developer will have to do something, yes.

Regarding my own client, I think waiting a bit is a good idea if you really want stability. I'll see what I can do about at least getting it into Extras-devel.

hey guys,

the last few days I've been unable to use yaspot. It logs in fine, however, when clicking Reload Playlists, it crashes.

Anyone else seeing this?

Re: Yaspot (spotify client)

For some reason I can't get the autobuilder to build the despotify packages any more and unfortunatly I don't have time to look into too why that is. Anyway, I posted new debs on my blog if you want to use the patched packages instead of just coping the shared libraries.
