thank you sir chivar for the advice...ill be using it mostly for ebook reading and powerpoint presentations...what i'm worried about is "bricking" it while installing 3rd party applications kasi wala talga akong idea on how to use the MAEMO OS lalo na di din ako familiar sa linux. hen is an app pra mkgamit ng usb on the go right? hindi b complicated iinstall un? and ung license ng docs to go mkakabili ba sa nokia centers?

Wala bang N900 app to access sim services?

unfortunately.....no......pero kung merong pinoy or any other developer makes an app for sim services, hopefully there will be.

so far, Philippines is the only country that writes down there services through SIM services app. Most of the Countries' service providers (specially here in north america) puts there services on locked devices by installing bloatware.

for those who have wifi at home and download files via torrent app, i recommend Transmission app on the n900.

with enough SEEDS and less PEERS, i am getting up to 4mbp/s speeds using a 54mbps wifi connection.

sa totoo lang kumplikado ang n900 kung wala kang background sa linux when installing softwares that requires tweaks in the terminal first to make it run. Research ka muna about the phone, meron ditong thread para dyan, makikita mo mga expectations about the phone etc., marami ring ranting threads about this phone mga negative opinions about n900. basta if you are really willing to tweak the phone and have some patience ... maganda ang phone na ito.

If you're a person that wants everything simple like android and iphone, I'll give you a heads up ... malayo sya sa iphone or android. this site/thread is a necessity kapag meron kang n900. halos lahat naman dito ay helpful, relaxing and helpful especially sa thread na ito para sa ating mga pinoy. willing ang lahat to help you.

I almost gave up on this phone before but when I get used to it, and realizing the capabilities that other phone doesn't have. It became my companion and helps me become more productive at work and in my social life.

i agree. if you're after fun and ease, di para sayo ang n900. lalo na pag may konting mali lang or may nakalimutan kang gawin na process, nakupo it could lead to catastrophy. ilang beses ko na na brick itong akin hehe. even lost my contacts on my recent crashes.

Yung akin kaya 1150 on starving.

Hello. Just got mine this December. I'm trying to look for a protective screen and a carrying case.

Everywhere I go they say that there is nothing for the N900. The stores have taken the device away from shelves to push the sales of the N8 more. It is clear that all smart phones are living in the shadow of the great iPhone. Not many people loved the N900. I guess I came in a time where the N900 is no longer relevant.

Still, I love the fact that it's a tinkerer's phone. N900's saving grace is the Linux based Maemo. This significance is lost on the average user who can't tell the difference between a Symbian and a Maemo phone. It's more than a phone. It's a tiny tablet PC.

I see I'll be using this for weird stuff in the years to come.

Hi all, Glad to see local users here. I'm from Pasig ph. I have my n900 2months ago, just recently i tried to install other free apps from OVI store. pero parang limited lang yun mga apps.. good thing i find maemo.org site and not only that a community for n900ers.

i'd like to improve my phone by installing useful apps that will help me on my everyday needs. not all are working right now that's why i spend time looking for other n900 user for help.

I've downloaded mobile maps app from sygic but to my dismay no available maps for asia (phil) are available on our n900. they don't have it in their sale page. :( maganda sana ito. first time I've run this apps nagustuhan ko na sya i like it more than ovi maps. also does this mobile maps require internet connection? i assume na ndi na kelangan since download version ito. if you find stores for ph map pls do share :)

also my docs to go no longer works, sa blackberry na mas luma ndi naman nag expire..

deeply appreciate all the help.

weeee....

sa SM you can find ishield.. pero reservation takes 2weeks. i got mine not ishield sa market market taguig. free installation and fits exactly right, cost at P500 forgot the name of store but its along octagon and globe. when i showed it to my friend he said he got it only for P300 but the film is glossy so it doesn't cover the left part with camera. hth

Let's share apps that we find here! I'm in need of a Facebook app. Facebrick is not anymore because its developer already stopped developing it. Any suggestions?

Twitter: Khweeteur. Simple interface with full features

Youtube: cuteTube.

IRC: XChat IRC

thanks Radicalz38.. very big help :)

new challenge arises.. i downloaded the apps again from OVI store, but installation stops and wont continue to install... it says [unable to install... ] so I search the net for other sources and then i found out that the software is just a 7day trial contrary to OVI page that says "free". would it be better if they just say "free for 7days" so people will know, kind of misleading to me.

well anyway is there a way to reinstall the apps again.. i know lots of you here has their own tricks up their sleeves.. please help.

well if youre quite adventurous, you can start by overclocking, enable the repos and install functional apps, just play with your device customize it to what you like, by the way no need to install maemo sdk..:-)

will overclocking the device may damage my n900's internal parts?? and by the way what is the purpose of installing SDK?? i hope you are patient enough to guide me sir...

that depends if you do it right, if you want to experience the full potential of your phone overclocking will help hehe of course its coupled with usual warnings.. sdk is for app developers for end users they dont need to bother unless if they want to make apps, basa kalang dito sa forums madami ka malalaman.. cheers

SDK software development kit, tools used by developer/programmer in making a phone application. for end user this is useless and will just take space in your phone/PC. you may find it useful if your into software development. no idea with cydia.
