Well Nokia will be announcing Q4 results on the 28th of January lets see who can guess closes to the numbers shipped in Q4 globally. I have used "shipped" rather than "sold" as that is the figure they tend to announce.

I'm betting less than 100 000. It was only available for one month, and really hard to get anywhere. Of course, announcing such a low number would look bad, supply issues or not, so they're not going to do it. The N900 should have a larger impact on Q1 results, so we may have to do some more waiting.

At least in Finland we got it early, but there really wasn't much of them available. I preorder it the day it was announced from the largest phone retailer here and there where many people before me and much much more that didn't yet get it last year and there's still long line of people waiting for the phone.

My bet is we won't know. While they did announce N97 sales, it was in a PR presentation. Their quarterly report ( http://www.nokia.com/results/Nokia_results2009Q3e.pdf ) only gives two numbers - smartphones and S30/S40 phones.

Unless N900 sales came close to a million, I would guess it will just be an "introduced the N900" bullet point.

I can't open any of the files you guys posted on the forum, can someone just tell me how many units the n97 sold? =P

I'm pretty sure the n900 sold A LOT more than the n97 though, I think the n97 also did have a disadvantage carrying a sucessor's name to the n95 which had a bad response after so much hype build up.
They presented the n900 in a whole different product though, I think people expected it to be a lot different.

nit-picking and off-topic, I know, but there are way less than 120K Nokians in Finland (that is close to the global number though).
The annual report for 2008 states that there Nokia employs 23 320 people in Finland.

375k, mostly due limited availibility. Remember, the overhyped Nexus1 didn't even break 30k within its first week! Availibility is king for sales.

However, with bigger stocks, I believe it will (easily) break a million in Q110.

why should I care how much has shipped. I am happy with mine. I walked into vodafone store in central London checked out the iPhone and cannot believe how much of a toy it feels like compared to n900 - web browsing is a joke as is the screen resolution. Who would have thought voda will ask for extension of n900 exclusivity when they have the iPhone. The HD2 though felt so light and is thinner than I expected - if only it had a keyboard and maemo.
