Actually, let's hope that they DO invest a lot of time on fixing things on the current platform. I own this phone, too :p I just have lowered expectations. I believe the most impressive improvements are released with new phones, not with new firmware.

I believe there's a bit of leeway between "abandoning the N900" and "porting Symbian software to Maemo in three weeks".
I agree. That's why I said in my first post that I'd hope for a commitment to bring the software to Maemo within the next 3 months (not weeks) or so.

This is about as clear English as you can get it in.
Yes, and this plain English quote has been contradicted by other quotes. I think we should stop listening to (and stop quoting) these second-hand statements (maybe made over the phone by someone in a big rush, or not prepared for a particular question). Instead, let's wait (and hope) for a real announcement...

Then let's hope that n900 gets M5&M6.
And that it won't become "2 out of 4"

I have never seen it contradicted. What I have seen, is a lot of people quoting the statement that Maemo will get Ovi Maps. And based on that quote saying "good for the N900 owners". The only quote where the N900 is actually mentioned by Nokia, is as far as I can tell, "not on the roadmap".

N810 had 13 months of updates. Not sure where you're getting two out of it. And most software, say Skype or Gizmo, didn't get updated since December of 2007 and Diablo came out December of 2008. Nothing since for a device that came out in November of 2007.

It just hit me. Nav on the N810. Does this mean I'll get full Nav packages too in the future?

Just lie to me and say "Yes."

Can we as a community "demand" it somehow? We have numbers here, Nokia can't just ignore the customers... can they :|?

Even though I love my N900 with all the cool FREE programs, but when and if iPHONE 4.0 come out and if they offer some sort of FREE navigation app like Google did (and i am certain they will eventually)...then i will say GOODBYE NOKIA!! They're so bad in software and hardware management and marketing it's ridiculous. They're bad in preparation and releasing products. They don't seem to be good at planning and thinking ahead. If i am going to release a killer phone, i would want to make sure i am ready to release a killer app like FREE NAVIGATION as well. So far N900 gets NO KILLER APP...nada! Sure, N900 eventually will get the FREE OVI NAVIGATION...but that's not my point, my point is that NOKIA does not have good plan...that explains why there are delays from software (OVI MAP) to hardware (N900).
