Lol... My "old phone" is old indeed. It was an old Nokia 6230, which when I got it was the bleeding edge for what it could do. :) Yes, I held on to one cell for over 5 years.

I only miss two things about the old 6230:
  • One-handed texting with T9 (make a T9 touch keyboard... please?)
  • The built in RFID system (used to open my garage door :p )

There are a few things that are still a little rough that the N900 needs a developing app to do now (MMS for example), but that's minor. And really, going from one to the other is like going from an Isetta to a Ferrari. Once you get used to the strange way the doors open, you're all set.

I gave my Palm Centro to my roommate, even though I still have six months to pay on my contract. It had a pretty nice keyboard and other nice features, but the web browsing was pretty bad. It did play Audible books, which is important to me because I have hundreds of them, which I purchased legitimately. But I have other files, some not so legitimate, for listening. I recorded rain sounds today, which would never have occurred to me on my Centro. Goodby tethering my N800 and N810 to the Centro, I won't miss you.

I'm glad I have a Kindle to go with, though.

Had about 15 Nokias in the last decade along with about 5 SEs, 5 HTCs, and a couple Samsungs thrown into the mix.

The N900 represents for me the next logical step in the never-ending quest for the perfect device, a paradoxical endeavor albeit a fun yet expensive one.

To put it in perspective, the N900 made its way to me through 3 distinct lines of Nokia products that I have owned:

e61 - e61i - e71
9500 - e90
N800 - N810

How could I have passed on the N900 ?? Seriously

None of those poll answers fit me.. I had a Nokia 7710, precursor to the 770, their first widely available touch screen handset that introduced hildon to the world (more or less) I used it up until getting an N97 last July.. (urgh .. teribble handset.. 256meg of OS space too small for the maps upgrade?! terrible)

I loved widescreen phone with its S90 interface, it was fantastic.. and as a result, I do miss using it and have fond memories.. but I love my N900..

Well N900 is a quite piece of engineering. Lots new features for an ex E90 user. But still missing for few features in the phone application.

Somehow i found that N900 is not very ideal phone to use in car while driving. What I really miss is:
  • Speedials straight from dialpad
  • Voice dialing via BT HF
  • Car friendly way to search contacts in landscape mode via touchscreen

Now quick usage of the N900 while driving is everything else than quick :)

But after all. It is much more compact sized than my old E90. Easy to operate and much better workmate than old ninty when working away from office. Maybe I'm just stuck in the communicator era because I have used them more than 10 years now (Still have the last 3 generations of them in use). But this phone is really the first one I was willing to take for everyday use instead of communicator.
