Re: [Announce] The One Ring

I know this has been said before but marking as read n the server doesn't help due to issues in the design of GV. Archiving is the only way to for GV to ignore them. But doing that makes to harder for to help me know if things are fixed ;)

TOR does store all messages downloaded from GV and checks the server timestamps. The logic is just faulty :)

These messages also show the wrong timestamp -- they are "now" as opposed to when they occurred as listed on the webpage.

I always ignored the server timestamp out of paranoia in working with RTComm. I'll try and experiment to use the server timestamp.

Re: [Announce] The One Ring

I've created a test version of TOR.

* For now removing "removing of old conversations" in case that is contributing to people's problems
* Attempting to use the messages actual time stamp rather than the time when we received it
* Adding a bit of paranoia to marking messages as read
* Added lots of debugging help

Please let me know what results you get.

Weird, didn't go in for Maemo 5. Now try again

Found it, installed. It seems that the bug is fixed - I don't get new message popups. More testing during the day.

Yep, it looks like the messages stop reappearing. They also have more reasonable timestamps.

One of my SMS threads refuses to show up still, butI don't mind.

Thanks, epage!

That sounds like another bug I want to worry about :). Would you mind filing a bug, sending a 0.8.9 log, and give some information (like which contact it is) so I can see why its being ignored?

Re: [Announce] The One Ring

epage, any chance you could find a way to cache the contacts brought in by Google Voice in the device's contacts?

Here's my problem, I sign into the GV for Conversations and my 305 contacts show up, I add them to the desktop for quick access. If I reboot my phone at any point, all the contacts disappear because I'm not signed in. They sadly don't come back to the desktop when I sign in either. The other problem is I tried to outwit it by exporting the contacts when signed into GV, then when signed out I imported them, so I have 305 contacts on my phone, but when I sign back into GV I now have 610, and the only way to tell the difference is that the online GV account shows "Away" for all my contacts and has a Google Voice IM listed, the other contacts only show the Google Voice number not the IM account as well.

As best as I understand it, all I have control over is providing the contacts. I admit I might have some mistakes in how I implement them that causes issues with Maemo but I wouldn't know what those are. I have a filed a bug to Nokia about them only showing one button for system contacts rather than two. I hope that would help in your case. You could then use the advanced option of disabling TOR contacts and using only system contacts.
