I have the same problem, but it happens with my google voice/talk account. I have to go into the account and hit "save" and then it connects. I don't know which logs you need ( if you wanted to look from another perspective ) but would be more than happy to send them to you if you point me in the right direction / you need them. Dial Central works great no problems...I like the direct integration better than having to run Dial Central.. BTW I have gmail google voice facebook chat (using Jabber) Skype telecomgeek79 |

One thing someone could do is if you have this easily reproducible to run "dbus-monitor --session > log". I say easily because that log is very chatty and can contain passwords as well as other things. |

I then went ahead and uninstalled completely using: Code:
apt-get remove --purge telepathy-theoneringI now get all my messages, but I am now only using GV contacts. Before I had disabled gv contacts and was just using the regular contacts. Is the regular contact feature having known issues at this time? **EDIT** I'm starting to think the only issue I had with that was the fact that I was not using GV contacts. I am still getting a network error issue from time to time when switching Internet connections. |

(((((I have clarified in my mind the difference between the google voice and google talk. (google talk is software on a pc that allows to chat...as far as I am aware, you can not do that with the n900...right?)))) I just reflashed (for other reasons) and will monitor and do a log if necessary. telecomgeek79 |

Re: [Announce] The One Ring
Argh can't get it to work, tried deleting and starting over. To bad since I was going rely on it this weekend for the conference I am attending.
Meh, hopefully DC's alerts will be good enough. |
Re: [Announce] The One Ring (Google Voice Integration for Conversations and Phone)
Hi,
I've been using theonering for months now and the most recent version has been quite solid for a while now. I want to pay for it, but I can't see how. Your web pages do not have a link to a PayPal donation button and a search of this thread only reveals a single person who asked a similar question. Please let me know how I can send a donation to you for all of your hard work that has made the N900 a viable device for me to use. |

Re: [Announce] The One Ring

Re: [Announce] The One Ring
If I add an contact to my google voice account does it add it to my phone contact list as well like update my address as soon as I add the contact online?

Re: [Announce] The One Ring
Is there any way to get messages pushed to the phone instead of polling? I really like the integration that TOR offers, but sms messages take a while to show up on the device (polling is set to every 10 minutes).
I ended up using gvmax, and it works great except for the fact that I have to manually add addresses for contacts. Android has push messaging for google voice sms, but I am not sure how they implemented it (and I don't think the code is available). |

I've not found out how Android does things. I would love to. So for now that leaves polling or disabling TOR's SMS support and using SMS through email. |

Re: [Announce] The One Ring
Is it a way to make the text msg I get from people to stop coming up as IMs?
|
Re: [Announce] The One Ring
You mean thru this implementation? No, not that I know of.

Are you looking for TOR not to display your SMS at all so you can use your cell service to respond or respond by email, etc? If its this case then in the advanced settings set the update interval for SMS to -1 |
Re: [Announce] The One Ring
What I'm saying if when I get an sms it comes the regular way than 2 seconds later comes as an IM from the same contact. So you saying setting it to -1 will stop it coming as an IM. I downloaded this so I can have my google voice contacts in my address and the option to dial regular or google voice on the dial pad. Which is something I needed. Still loving dial central app though.

Re: [Announce] The One Ring
Hi, sorry I don't follow this thread costantly... I just got my N900 back from repair and lost all my contacts, but I still have some of them on Google voice.
I was trying to initiate calls from GV, but it seems to not be working It starts the call, then says "Call Disconnected" but I never get the call back from google voice. Is the feature just broken or is it just me? thanks |

I checked the log, so I could send it to you, and I noticed that the forwarding number it was sending to was incorrect. For some reason the "screen name" that was being displayed under the GV settings on the N900 was the wrong forwarding number. Apparently TOR was sending the call to the wrong forwarding number, even though the correct number was in the "Forward" box. I changed my "screen name" to the correct forwarding number, and now the call is forwarded correctly. I'm emailing you a copy of my log. |
Re: [Announce] The One Ring
Been using this app for quite some time and this is my main app for txting now, no longer use the GSM txt service but I still have a question:
How can I use my system contacts to send a txt. I start a new IM conversation using TOR but then I have to manually copy the number, why cant i pick up the number from my contacts? Preferably, I dont want to use GV contacts, because I dont keep all my conacts on GV website, my phone has the mastercopy. If the info is already there on how to do this, can someone please point me to it, |
Re: [Announce] The One Ring
If I might make a suggestion - do not populate the avatar/picture in the contacts comming down from Google Voice with a default icon.
I noitced that my contacts that did have a picture set, all got overwritten when I merged the contacts. :( Other than that, it seems to work great! |

Re: [Announce] The One Ring
Is there a way to get this working without an internet connection, or is that not possible?
If not, approximately how much data does this app use to initiate a GV callback / send text messages? |
Re: [Announce] The One Ring

Dialcentral is designed to use exactly what you explicitly ask for and no more. It has the same cost as using the website. TOR has support for polling for SMS / Voicemail / Contacts. These can be configured to be minimized or even disabled. It then takes as much as you ask for except it does double check that you are logged in when transferring networks. Maybe, maybe I could minimize this even more. So the cost of this is opening/closing the web browser every time you change networks. |
