Hi,
I've successfully installed the navicore application on my new n800. First deactivate the license for your 770. Install the app on the n800 ... activate the license again ... vollaaaa!!!

The app is much faster, especially the 3d view.

Cool! Now will the 770 car holder be compatible with the N800? The N800 isn't really much bigger than the 770. :)

Is this definitively only a European product? Nothing for US? I've submitted my name to get more info through the tableteer site, but have yet to hear a peep.

Hi,

the old "770" carholder (CR-81) does not fit to the n800. For the n800 you need the (CR-86) adapter which is not available right now. The CR-81/CR-86 is only the tablet holder which is connected to the HH-12 multi purpose holder =).

There is one problem with the with the 770 version on the n800. The radar plugin downloader does not work. So first you have to download this plugin via 770 then switch the MMC to the n800. Now you have a complete working navigation software.

Navicore is working on a new version for the n800 which differs from the 770 version. But there are no detailed information available yet.

Navicore states on its website that US, South African, and Australian maps will come in Q1 2007 along with the N800 version.

I saw video demos of it running on an N800 at CES back at the beginning of the year, I'm waiting eagerly for the US maps!

I am waiting for the N800 version of Navicore with the GPS bluetooth and holder. It's my birthday this weekend. Anyone want to buy me one?

I've learned from that this does in fact work in the US... I've yet to see it unfortunately, but now that I am armed with a new GPS (Nokia LD-3W) I'm very excited to try it

is it really fluid in 3D mode (as tomtom hardware navigation) or not ?

about the installation, the navicore kit come's with DVD or sd preinstalled card ?

I would love to do a video, but have yet to see it. From what I understand the entire US comes on a 2GB card so in theory (to be confirmed) you don't need to have a data connection to get the maps rolling as you drive which will be quite nice.

One point per second is the most common GPS data rate. Some models can be configured to transmit five points per second, usually for specialized applications like race car performance monitoring, but this is uncommon.

the frame/rate on my tomtom is very good and the navigation is fluid... see the n70 tomtom navi on youtube too.

and the frame rate of 3d nav on n800 jerk.

navicore doesn't use all capacity of n800 or n800 isn't so good for gps navigation ?

Well, if it's a TT GO then it's got a 320x240 display, which is way easier to drive than the N800's 800x480 display.. there are 5 times as many pixels in the latter. But it could also be a question of how good/optimized the navicore software is. This is the 770 version I assume. (In any case one must realize that TT is possibly the top contender to compare with, it _is_ very smooth. Runs like hot butter on my 480x320 Palm T3. I checked out a built-in expensive-looking navigation system in a fancy car, and it was crude and jerky compared with TT.)

In any case it's also true that most GPS (at least the NMEA ones) updates just once per second, as was said already by jpj.

Size of N800 screen (I believe the 770 is the same): I measure it as 91x55 mm.

Total WAG (wild-assed guess) here: Frame rates in excess of the GPS packet rate could be simply a matter of interpolating the intermediate frames in the rendering system. But I don't own an all-in-one GPS unit so this is only speculation.

yes i know ... and they says that this version must be optimized for n800 with new menu finger , and cpu optimization .i pray for this ;)

apparently they put an update to patch N770 software to N800 platform for optimization ....

I don't mind if they wait until it's ready, better than a beta-quality release.
