Saving text messages
 
Hello. I recently noticed that the N900 does not save the history of your text (sms) messages? It appears to only go back a week :confused:

I am wondering if anyone could help me find a way to :confused: save the entire history of my text messages? The iPhone and MyTouch seemed to do this by default?

My Smss go all the way back to when I got the device.

However the little scrollbar indicator is very misleading. Scroll as far back as you can and it will then retrieve more older messages from it's database and reposition the scrollbar.

Yep, I just scrolled back to the very first SMS My Mo ever sent. (26/11/09). It is a little 'lumpy's scrolling as it loads more each time I scroll back, but they are all there.

That sounds a little clunky, UX-wise. Is there a bug filed about this?

Yeah, it is. To be honest though it's the first time I actually noticed it. You can't use this scrollbar to do anything useful.

Mine only goes back 1 week for some odd reason? is there a setting hiding somewhere?

Is this in the main converstations menu where it shows all your conversations with all contacts or in an individual contacts list of messages?

Mine is ok and goes back to when I first got the phone, scrolling is ok though

You do have an option of clearing the conversation so maybe you did this a week ago?

Have you left it a while to load?

When you open the list it preloads the first 10 (I think) then loads the rest of the messages in the background (around 100 at a time) so if you have alot of messages in the conversation it could take a short while to load fully.
