Hi, Surreptitious!
You can learn more about grading using build-in 'Mnemosyne for Maemo' documentation (Application menu -> Help) or reading http://mnemosyne-proj.org/help/getting-started.php
Do not use random logic because it will break learning schedule.

Re: Mnemosyne for Maemo

I am trying to import flashcard sets from the mnemosyne site into mnemosyne 2.0.0-beta13 on the n900 but always get the error that dict has no attribute 'new_id'. I have tried several sets (all xml) and I always get the same error.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Mnemosyne for Maemo

Hi, I have been using mnemosyne 2.0.0~beta13~rc1 on my N900 for some time now and I am really happy with it. I have imported a couple of flashcard sets from the mnemosyne site, I have manually converted some other sets from other flashcard apps, and I have created my own sets.
I have only one problem: I have never succeeded in using the cloze deletion card type. I couldn't find any documetation on how to format the text. I have read
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/mne...rt-in-cardtype
and tried all alternatives proposed there: brackets, braces, etc. but nothing worked. After writing a new cloze deletion card I pressed the initial grade button to get a new empty cloze deletion template and I got no error message, as if everything had worked OK, but in reality the card I had just finished had simply vanished and the total card count had not increased. Which syntax was implented for cloze markup? Or is the card type simply there, not working but waiting for full implementation?

Thanks in advance.

Are you going to get a Meego version into the Ovi store for the N9?

Re: Mnemosyne for Maemo

Mnemosyne for N900 has been abandoned. It was in need of an update, because it cannot open the .cards format that is now the standard. I contacted the maintainer, Max Usachev, but he answered only that "Maemo is dead".

Hopefully someone will show interest in developing the N900 version further; it was a very useful application.

That is an honest-to-goodness real pity....
perhaps informing him that maemo is hardly dead ...a whole community still use maemo ...from the 770 on up...
not to mention the developments of good people...good minds working on fptf and the neo...
To coin a phrase...
"The rumours of Maemo's demise have been greatly exaggerated."

Re: Mnemosyne for Maemo

Quick reply...

Mnemosyne _is_ open-source. Right? Current version is 2.3.1. Maemo version is 2.0.0.

If somebody enjoys python-packaging, he could package 2.3.1 for Maemo. Both Fremantle and Diablo, if possible.

Not sure what problems would be connected with that. But they were solved before, so they should be solvable now.

Ideally, it should be possible to transfer Maintaining of the package in Maemo repository to somebody else. I'm not sure whether you need agreement of Max Usachev for that, or just whoever-is-responsible-for-Maemo-repositories.

Best wishes.
