FBReader on 2007: no more finger-scrolling?

Did anyone else notice that finger-scrolling no longer works in FBReader on ITOS2007?

It's not a big deal since I didn't use it that often, but it most likely has to do with the new way the N800 handles finger-touches on the screen.

:D Well I definitely noticed but am unable do anything about it. Oh well I am sure it will be fixed soon enough. Can't beat it for the price! I am just so happy to have discovered a decent ebook reader for the n800. Book reading is my definite number 2 use. Thanks to the developers.

I agree, big thanks to Nikolay Pultsin et al (?!) for this software! BTW in the OS2007 version you can simply configure the nav buttons as you like - I do not miss finger scrolling anymore (there was no such configuration in earlier versions for 770, was it?).

Yes, there was.

I don't actually miss finger scrolling; it was just nice to know it was there for those awkward moments when you can't seem to reach any of the preconfigured buttons.

And to put things in perspective: FBReader is the single most used application on both my 770 and my N800. Of course, the Internet Tablets' amazing screens take a lot of credit for that.

I remapped the center button on the 4 way pad to scroll one page at a time, and that is very useful and makes for fast reading.

That sounds a useful way of doing it. I've assigned small scrolling, which seems to be up or down on the 5-way pad, to be 100% of the screen so I scroll a page at a time.

Without supporting it with my right hand, the N800's just a little too heavy to hold and scroll one-handed (no sniggering at the back please) so I wanted to be able to hold it in my left hand and just tap the screen with my right when needed. But I find that screen tapping's not working :(

I almost always use it in portrait mode, with the D-pad on top. I've set the left and right buttons (which are top and bottom in portrait) to scroll by a page (minus one line), and the top and bottom buttons (right and left) to scrolling by one line. The center button switches to landscape mode (because ever so often I need it).

This works for me.

I admit finger scrolling would be good to impress the neighbor in the train :-)

IMHO the greatest thing about the finger scrolling is that it's silent. Like completely silent, not like the oh, it just makes a small noise kinda silent. I often read books in bed if I can't get sleep. Now, it's not very nice to be making clicking noise every 30 secs beside someone.

I hate to bust your bubble but, on my 770 at least, finger-scrolling was not silent. Then again, I never really looked if I could turn that click off (nor could be bothered to, I'm an anti-social b*st*rd son of a b*tch).

Clicking sound can be turned off from the control panel.

Even if you like the clicking sound in normal use, just turn the volume down to 0 and you will get rid of the clicking sound.

See? That's why I'm an antisocial b*st*rd son of a b*tch: I read that and think: I can't be arsed by thàt!

Oops! almost forgot: :D
