360 Study

Has Nokia emailed anyone else to join the 360 Study? I was on this years ago with my Nokia N80, and at the end they suprised me with a free N95 before it was released as a thankyou. Now out of the blue Nokia email me today asking if i want to join the 360 Study the N900 with a £50 reward at the end of the study.

What is this study, exactly?

Re: 360 Study

Seems to be use-case stuff - probably analysis of how you use the device etc.
The terms and conditions have a lot of information about it regarding how they'll track phone call (duration, who hangs up), instant message and some browsing details.

Re: 360 Study

360 is Nokia software you install on your phone. It runs in the background monitoring and recording how you use the phone, which is then automatically uploaded.
It doesn't require any input from the user once it is started. For allowing the software to monitor your phone usage you are paid £50. It costs nothing as you can set it to only upload via wifi and you will forget it is there.

Sounds interesting. How do you get an invite? Thanks.

I wish I knew, I think you are just picked randomly. I joined "My Nokia' and registered my 5800. A couple of months later I got an invite.

If they give me a free N900 I'll gladly help the study :D

Re: 360 Study

A friend of mine got a free N900, not me :-(

I signed up whilst still using my N96, when I switched to N900 I emailed them to get the device switched and they said they don't support the N900 !

Re: 360 Study

Is it permitted to share the link? (perhaps by direct message)
Or is there a source?

I'm somewhat intrigued that I was using 360 on the N96, but now can't switch to the N900, and customer service is saying it's not supported.

Perhaps it's run by a different team (symbian vs maemo)?

Re: 360 Study

Maybe i'm being overly concerned, but how safe would it be to install the 360 software and then use internet banking for instance? Just how much info is being sent to Nokia, and could that be intercepted by anyone?
Thanks.

Re: 360 Study

Two different teams:
S60 - Nielsen on behalf of Nokia.
Maemo - Nokia direct.

Re: 360 Study

Ah that explains the confusion. Is it possible to signup for this if not invited? ie is the link a general signup or customized to your account/id (and not shareable) /

Re: 360 Study

I just signed up for this on my N900. I saw a face-book ad for it and followed the link, signed up. I downloaded the software directly to my phone by SMS link.
