I will also buy whatever next games you release just to thank for the effort (prefer shooter to baseball however :-). Thanks!

At least here in Germany, those thingies can normally be found at fairs.

Btw, is there a list of the games made with the SIO2 engine for other platforms ?

I'm very glad to see a commercial company using so many OSS tools :)

So... $1.99 for n900 version, but only 69p ($1 ish) for the iphone version...

Why????

Re: SIO2 Interactive Publish its first N900 Game::HoopsFrenzy

There are any number of understandable and reasonable answers to that, but you are free to spend your money as you see fit.

Thread stickied as requested. I'm a bit disappointed that in your haste, your unwillingness to go through the burdensome Ovi QA didn't get translated into a bit more in-house QA. Still, the apps in Ovi aren't all optified and no paragons of QA, either.

Your rapid correction of issues as found is commendable.

Just FYI, QA for apps admitted to the maemo.org repository is that they not occupy more than a few hundred kB rootfs space (ideally even less). Here's the complete checklist.

Come on, N900s are far less then the iPhones, so it's understandable why the price for us is a bit higher.

I find basketball extremely boring unless it is streetball. Some people are not into basketball. Don't judge your possibilities to perform at a profit on this device platform based on your first app being a basketball app.
Try to instead look at something more broader in appeal.

Far less than iphones in what way? The game is pretty much identical on the iphone to n900, I don't see why there should be any difference in prices.

This is the fact:
they have a production cost of X both for iPhone and N900. If, for example, one user each three buy the game, they will have:
many_many_many_iphone_users / 3 * 1$ = many money
and
not_so_many_n900_users / 3 * 2$ = not so many money

If they don't want to lose money (and trust me, they really don't want) then they must to keep the price a little higher on the n900.
The same things happened for Angry Birds: 0.79$ on the iPhone and a free demo + 3$ for the full game on the n900.

Until the n900 will be largely used, this is how the things go.

Fo f sake. Then do not pay it or are you going to give people lesson about how they should spend their own money?

Agree. People who complain about non mandatory things needs a swift shot to the happy sack. I am personally stoked to see ANY commercial interest in the N900 at all.

By the way - any way to shut off the music?

You are correct, they do have production cost for both iPhone and n900, however do not forget that it was originally developed on the iphone meaning it cost a LOT more to develop than to port. No doubt porting is a lot of work but in comparison from starting from scratch it is a lot less.

You also cannot really use the size of the market to justify the price hike, if you've used symbian before you will have noticed that the games in the ovi store are very expensive compared to the iphone, for games that aren't as good and have potentially a MUCH larger audience.

I dont think $1.99 is expensive, far from it, but when does a 100% price increase for the exact same game become too much?

I am happy that developers are taking the platform seriously as it does have the capacity to perform as well as the iphone in gaming, and this is not a critism on the game itself likewise the publisher, its just something I hope isn't going to become a trend.

Because they use their "foot".. I don't understand why don't they call "American football" to "American Rugby".. That would make ALOT more sense..

Anyways, great game.. but according to the youtube video it looks like it's a bit slow?? idk, I purchase the game anyways, because I want to support any company that will produce something awesome for the N900.

Thanks again sio2interactive. :)

there is only a Q on start up window once in game i see no Q anywhere, only options i have are pick and menu, all menu as is difficulty settings.
once you mininise a running app it should shut down from task switcher simlpy by hitting X not crash your whole system.

English are not open-minded to other sports, hence having a small vocabulary and being unable to differentiate between styles of play. Everyone knows Aussie Rules is real football.

And thx to devs for the port. Download and transaction went without a hitch. More ports please. :)

Do you save my IMEI code to your database? If so then should i be worried? Is it linked to my name? What kind of security matters you have for this database. Or am I just exaggerating my security conserns?

In general is IMEI code something that is should keep in really safe?

About game. Please make quit menu item and little more optimization on animation would make good.

a demo would have been nice. i cannot judge a games play quality from a youtube video.

sio2interactive 2010-02-05 00:28

Re: SIO2 Interactive Publish its first N900 Game::HoopsFrenzy

slender:

Don't even worry it is not saved directly inside the database...

What is saved in the database is an encrypted combination of IMEI + MAC address + game name + game version + other info...

Even myself I can't read it or anything from it as I don't have your device... only the device that generate it can read it back ;) and it won't work on another device... trust me its 110% safe ;)

Cheers,

Looks like we're getting more games!

If you ever get the time, how about a freekick game for the N900, you know, like the one that used to be bundled with EVERY samsung phone at some point? :)

I mean this game

and make it look something like THIS

Just an idea/suggestion :)
