You can enter the following in xterminal to make N900 use 2G network only:


To switch back to 3G:
Duel mode:

You may add a "Desktop Command Execution Widget" or "Queen BeeCon Widget" to add a desktop widget to execute the command from desktop.

i entered your commands in xterminal, but nothing happens, my phone stand in 3G Mode :(

Did you copy and paste it to your xterminal? Because it might not return anything if you've entered them wrong.

If you'd read the beginning of this thread you'd know that these are the exact commands that are used by the controlpanel applet as well as the 3g2g applet.

The n900 devices with the wrong product code are hardlocked to 3g, and the only way by now to fix this is to send them back to Nokia.

If you find a way, you'll be the first. I don't think that it is impossible but may be tricky.

I didn't reject the possibility regarding 3G locking, but I think it's better to exhaust every possible way before sending it back to Nokia, that's why you're here.

Have you seen the momentary signal lost when you issue the command? Are you sure your sim can connect to 2G, say, have you tried it on other cellphone?

yeah sim card is ok! after 1 week i send my handy back to nokia for repair... i get back a brand new mobile and i think with swap code... fm transmitter also standardly dont work

fm transmitter is disable in many region due to legal issues, but still it could be re-enabled by some other method. However, GSM receiving capability should not be disabled as it's permitted in many civilized countries except North Korea. So you must really asked the Nokia Care if they've taken your N900 to North Korea for repairing, otherwise it should not be disabled.

i check my product code and yes, i got a exchange mobile with swap code.
i tried to change the product code with Nemesis Service Suit without success!
i can read out the actual product code, but cant write the new one. always say "Write New Values... Error!"
