Uninstall Pidgin Protocols
 

i got a broblem, but im new to n900

so i have to install "Rootsh"
and when the rooth aplication is open i type "sudo gainroot"? then what? do i press something?

and after that i type "apt-get -f install" do i press something after that?

and finally "apt-get autoremove"? do i exit rooths now? and how do i exit it? cause i have heards it can mess my n900 up if i dont do it correctly

need step by step guide ^^"

at first: <enter> means to press enter.

sudo gainroot <enter>
apt-get -f install <enter>
apt-get autoremove <enter>

but what do you want to do? o.O

ehm... these commands only check for missing dependencies and failures and correct them... and then remove packages which are no longer needed...

but this is nothing pidgin specific... for this you'll have to uninstall it via the app-manager or specify the responsible packages for unstalling them via apt-get...

I have a might be similar question.
I saw a "Pidgin Extra Protocols (Bonjour and Sametime)" and I tried to remove it from Application Manager.
Howerever it gave me an error "Required by application packages: Pidgin Sametime Support..."
But I didn't see that "Pidgin Sametime Support" in application manager

So, how do I remove the "Pidgin Extra Protocols (Bonjour and Sametime)"?

without warranty:

sudo gainroot
apt-get remove pidgin-protocol-sametime
apt-get remove pidgin-protocol-bonjour
apt-get autoremove

and have a look in the app-manager if there is still the sametime-bonjour package... and uninstall it...

haven't tested it... won't test it... just try it... but don't blame me :P

you wanted to know how to uninstall it... and that should be the way to go... but i won't test it because i use these protocols ;)

worst thing would be that you have to reinstall the protocols via apt-get install.... i think :P

ok... it won't do it...
it's needed by the pidgin protocols plugin which contains nearly all of the protocols like aim, icq, msn, etc...
so if you want to uninstall sametime and bonjour you have to uninstall the other package first...

in short: you can't have aim, icq, msn, etc... without sametime and bonjour...

hallo b666m kannst du mier auch auf deutsch erklären wie ich Pidgin Extra Protocols (Bounjour and Same) löschen kann?ich habe jetzt probiert

root (enter)
apt-get purge (enter drücken)
apt-get clean (enter drücken)

aber passiert nichts

und was löscht es das maemo extras testing programmkatalog?

ach und noch eine frage mein programmaneger braucht jetzt länger um sich zu öffnen also wen man in deinstallieren oder heruterladen reingeht seit dem download.ändert sich das wider wenn ich das programm lösche?danke für deine hilfe

hi, probier das:

sudo gainroot
apt-get remove pidgin-protocol-sametime
apt-get remove pidgin-protocol-bonjour
apt-get autoremove

deine oben genannten befehle machen eigentlich gar nichts. ^^

je mehr programme/apps du installiert hast, desto länger braucht das "Deinstallieren" fentser zum laden.
je mehr programmkataloge du aktiviert hast, desto länger bräucht das "Download" fenster zum laden und desto länger dauert auch die suche nach aktualisierungen.

deshalb empfiehlt es sich nicht mehr benötigte kataloge zu deaktivieren. (vor allem testing und devel, weil dort unstabile programme/apps enthalten sein können, welche system-instabilität verursachen können. somit sind automatische aktualisierungen von dort für den normalen user nicht empfehlenswert.)

danke danke :) hatte schon angst das das gleiche passiert wie mit meinem 5800 das blockiert sich immer welche programmkataloge empfehlst du mier dan es hat zu wenig in den vorinstallierten? :( kommen die vom test auch irgendwan in maemo extra?

die oben genannten befehle bringen schon was.
und zwar wenn man das pidgin msn protokoll schon deinstalliert hat, bonjour und samtime aber noch drin geblieben sind (was sie gerne machen).
der purge befehl deinstalliert alle nicht mehr benötigten programme, somit auch sametime und bonjour (wenn vorher msn deinstalliert wurde).
apt-get clean bringt ein sauberes apt-get system nach dem rumspielen...
danke für das noob... ich glaube du hast keine ahnung wer ich bin ;-)
