Tab button for the thumb keyboard on a n800
Im sure this has been asked before but I cannot find an answer after searching through 16+ pages of searches.
I love the full screen thumb board but I cannot figure out how to do a tab for tab completion. It is a pain to have to switch back to the small screen just to hit tab. Any suggestions? |
Re: Tab button for the thumb keyboard on a n800
Welcome to the forum, Micah.
You basically have three choices here. Hack the full screen keyboard and change one of the keys to a Tab key. Use Xmodmap and temporarily change one of your hardware buttons to a Tab key. Or permanently alter one of your hardware buttons by editing your rx-44 file. Tell me which one you prefer and I'll help you out. :) |

Thanks for the warm welcome!!
I would prefer to change the full size keyboard. That way I dont lose one of the hardware keys. |
Re: Tab button for the thumb keyboard on a n800
Okay.
What key would you like replaced? Also, what language are you using for the keyboard? I'll post back a solution/file for you tomorrow night. :) |

Re: Tab button for the thumb keyboard on a n800
So you don't want an apostrophe key anymore?
Is that correct? |
Re: Tab button for the thumb keyboard on a n800
Yeah. The key to the right of the p and above the /. If I need an apostrophe there is also on numbers tab.

Okay then.
Give me a day on this since it will be my first time attempting to hack the keyboard. |

Re: Tab button for the thumb keyboard on a n800
This is turning out to be much more difficult than what I thought it would be.
I'm not finding anything on what to type in the en_US.xml file so I can compile it back to a .vkb file that will be usable. Right now, clicking on the Tab key just types out the word Tab. Probably not what you want here. :) I emailed the author so maybe I'll hear back from him or perhaps someone else here can jump in and help. http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/6...0020419235.png |
