Yes, the virus got straight through Mcafee twice, this time and 3 months ago (it was my computer 3 month ago), Mcafee is really not good enough! bun |

I fix viruses daily as part of my business for what its worth. Obviously for servers or critical machines, I perform a backup through a live cd before attempting to remove the infections though I never needed to restore them. Bootsector viruses can be fixed using the recovery console in the windows cd but this particular virus is not a bootsector one. Quote:

If you can somehow run an .exe file, try AnVir Taskmanager. It will stand in place of the windows task manager. When/if you can get it to run in safe mode, you should see some suspicious process. Kill it and you will buy yourself enough time to do a scan with Malwarebytes.

It is NOT possible to run any process. I guess if you keep trying, you may get lucky once to get thru between processes................I surroundered to the evil forces.......WinXP re-installed. All is well, so far
