Re: Laser-Cut Stand for N900

Fake, It turns out my Prof is interested in buying a several for the university, but we're wondering how your price breaks will work on the store-front. E.g. if we want 5, is that equivalent to buying a 3-pack and a 2-pack? Is it even cheaper? Does it have to be two separate orders?
Thanks again for your good work here.

Re: Laser-Cut Stand for N900

I'm trying to work this out right now. At the moment I am doing the following. As of right now you can buy:

Individual stands:
1. A wooden stand. ($10.00)
2. An acrylic stand. ($17.00)

Home & office packs:
3. A "Home & Office Pack" with one of each. ($22.00)
4. A "Home & Office Pack" with 2 acrylic. ($30.00)
5. A "Home & Office Pack" with 2 wood. ($15.00)

Multiples:
6. 3X acrylic ($45.00)
7. 3X wooden.($20.00)

You can add any combination of these to your cart. The problem for me is that shipping cost goes up very rapidly with weight, so even if I manage to pack 5 in a single envelope for you that actually cuts way into my margins. Would you think that buying a 2 pack and a 3 pack would be a bad deal? It would end up being $35, or $7 each if you did them all in wood (and I think the wood ones are awesome).

Please, everyone, let me know your thoughts.

I like that two packs with one of each is cheaper than two of each. :)

No, there's absolutely no issue with that, and I get the feeling you're selling them fairly cheaply anyway (the flat-rate shipping sold me right away, for one). I just wanted to be clear on how it was done, so that my prof wouldn't have to read through the thread himself. Thanks!

Do you mean 2X two packs of one each?

$22x2= $44 < 15+30 = $45?

I'm steeply discounting the mixed packs so people don't feel bad about spending the money on acrylic units. :)

Re: Laser-Cut Stand for N900

OK, I'm going to go ahead with this. Just a little more testing of my web-shop and I'll start PMing everyone with info on how to order. (it's gonna take FOREVER since the forum only allows one PM per minute) :(

People who made a reservation here will get a PM with a password to log into the store. I ask that everyone order pretty much exactly what they pre-ordered, so that everyone gets what they wanted. There will be more stands available shortly.

After all or most reservations are satisfied, the store will open to the general public.

Re: Laser-Cut Stand for N900

Very very late to this fantastic idea, but any chance of reserving a pack of 1 wood + 1 acrylic to the UK please, or should I just wait for the store to open publicly?
Thanks

Re: Laser-Cut Stand for N900

I'm out of acrylic at the moment. :\ I'll have another batch for when the store opens --

Here's the thing... shipping is probably gonna take 5-12 days overseas anyway, so another day or two won't make a huge difference...

EDIT: tags on this thread get better all the time.

EDIT: I can't make shipping zero, so it's a penny. Whatever.

:O :O A *whole* penny!! That's a travesty, and I expect to get overnight delivery if you're pulling that kind of scam! </sarcasm>
No, but seriously, these are dirt cheap already - that's hardly an issue. And if the forums riot on you over it, then just charge $9.99 for a stand, and $0.01 for the shipping. 99-centing is always a good tactic, right? ;)

And to whoever tagged this thread as ''complex pricing structure'', I tell him/her to go and have a maths class. I'm wondering, if your prices are ''complex to understand'' what would be a simple pricing structure.
Some people are stupid.

I suspect it was a joke. The pricing structure is far from incomprehensible, but the evolution of it as the thread went on was probably their point: ironically pointing out the relative change in complexity over a short period of time.

Joke or not, I thought it was hilarious, as was the punning in "taps into beer money"... taps... I see what you did there.

I am PMing people with purchasing information now. It may take up to two hours, because the PM system is rate-limited.

So excited to ship these babies out!

I think your nick is hilarious. If this thread is what your nick says, including all the pictures, the videos, 257 posts, the story, the book scanner, the laser cutter, the angry neighbors, the air filter, the black paint, the acrylic version, the web shop, the pricing structure and everything - it's so damn well done that some director at Hollywood should make a movie about it. Put your nick on top of that, and I'd gladly pay my five stands just to see you take off to brazil with the money! When I get my stands, it's almost like I'm going to become a bit sad over the fact that it was all for real. :D

See, in reality it is for the Nokla N900 this stand, hence the nick "fake"

One man's complex pricing structure is another man's flexible options!

Yep, you and Pelleman convinced me to do the 3 packs.

Unfortunately/fortunately I'm already out of acrylic 3 packs -- tomorrow night is going to be another long night of laserin'.

Now I'm working on the postage/customs forms end of things. It's turning out to be pretty interesting... looks like very few if any services can offer me USPS Parcel Post pricing with automated label printing.

I'll figure something out. In the meantime I need a few hours' sleep.
