N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
At the request of ... well ... no one, I volunteered to destroy my warranty so the rest of you could discover - well - that it's quite boring inside!
I was going to try to wait 'til Monday night to post this to get on Tuesday's blogrolls, but then I reminded myself that I blog for fun and not for hits. Here is the article with links to pics and video! |

Very, very nice. Thanks!

Glad you like it.

Re: N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
Good good good.. having dissected one of my T3's a few times (for battery transplantation) the N800 looks like it's designed very well, in the sense that it should be possible to repair the thing quite easily (e.g. there could be future screen replacement kits, like those you can buy for some PDAs).

Re: N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
Nice work Dan - though what amazed me was you seem to find removing the 'internal' memory card the hardest :p. Mine pops out if you push it in.

Re: N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
The sticker on mine snagged and peeled back a little ;) That's what the difficulty was.

Re: N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
Oh by the way - I've run a neodymium magnet around the surface of my N800 and the only thing that ever tripped was the webcam applet. I don't know why.

What size was it (the neomag)

Re: N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
Thanks a lot!! Now I seriously consider to color my N800 to have (say) a black front instead of the silver front. That would make the device much more elegant ...

Re: N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
About the size of a dime.

Re: N800 disassembly/reassembly pics+video
If you remove the RF shielding, as well as making the Tablet a RF emitter, you will also gain RF noise on the super-sensitive WiFi radio. You don't want that.
I bought a 770 a month ago offa eBay and it was a dud with a unusable display. Took it apart and saw they were doing the old flex SMT circuitry like on their cellphones. It ended up being a education moment. Nice and keep up the good work. Adam in NYC |
