don't buy the n900!
ive bought it and its a fantastic phone, its the best piece of tech ive ever owned, but its difficult to use and to get familiar with it. its not for everybody: linux, opensourceness, lack of shiny shitty unuseful costly apps, then it has flash support, a camera, multitasking (way too difficult for you: it means you could do more than one thing AT THE SAME TIME!) see, just too much for people that make such questions as yours. its more a thing for nerdy geeks with more than 70 as I.Q. go buy an iphone 3gs instead. or better, wait for the ipad. |

my friend, just because you had time to learn linux doesn't mean that everybody has. that doesn't make you smarter or us stupid. the fact that you think you're so cool and that everybody should know linux shows that you have an IQ a little smaller that those nerdy geeks mentioned higher. as I sad before I don't have the necessary time to learn it, although I want to. It cost a lot, 600euros, and although I can make a sacrifice and pay that sum, I want to know if I can use it, or if I would have a problem. Although nokias way of doing business in my country suck, and I seriously considering something else. |

mobile gmail: http://m.gmail.com mobile google maps: http://www.google.com/maps/m There are mobile links for reader and search too. Although the search one is useless for the N900. |

what n900 lack the most is the billions of new costly apps to buy everyday, and all the related gizmodeusque bubblefarting environment iphone has. so im sorry for the misunderstanding, but, actually. by your reaction, i have to admit maybe your interpretation of my words is not that wrong. maybe you really need an iphone. btw, it costed me 480€ |
Re: Should I get the N900 now or wait and get the N920/Harmattan?
I have to love nokia, I've just called my provider to ask them about the phone, which was supposed to be available tomorrow, they've told me that they'll have it on the 19th of april, because nokia postponed the delivery date.
Now I'm seriously reconsidering not buying it since there are only 2 carriers selling it and this is the only one that offered me a data plan at a decent price (since it's discounted). The other one doesn't even have a data plan. |
Re: Should I get the N900 now or wait and get the N920/Harmattan?
ok. Here we go again.
I'm still wondering if the n900 is for me or not. I've read a lot on the forum, but I couldn't understand everything. What I want from my device: Able to read emails (yahoo - pop) and work (Ms exchange) Calendar synchronization (Synchronize with my Outlook calendar and keep my alarms - I don't use colors or anything, I just use the alarm to let me know when I should go for my meeting usually 10-15 minutes) Watch movies without conversion Listen to music (mp3 or without conversion) NO ITUNES Internet experience Web browsing etc. (have a 10Gb/month data plan on 3G+ network) skype calls (free with friends) Yahoo messenger (if it has also calls it would be perfect, videocalls would be awesome) Gtalk (video calls) Easy facebook Decent camera Decent GPS (at the moment what Ovi maps offers is Ok, since I'm using ovi maps 2 on my e51, only thing where I need it is orientation when I get in to a new town and I need to find a place on foot). weather What I like at the N900: Well I like it a lot from what I've read. I like the Open Source part. I like the qwerty, the screen, THAT IT'S NOT AN IPHONE, the touch, multitasking, the community (I love you guys), and I think that the community is the best thing about N900. The fact that now we have Qt in Pr 1.2. will make me sure that porting applications from meego won't be a problem, so I don't care if we get meego or not. It can satisfy my problem with video/music. The fm transmitter, the browser, and other thing that I've might forget. Now my question, does the N900 satisfy my requirements? In my opinion it should, but I'm not sure. What do you people think. I really love this phone, but the email and calendar synchronization would be a real helper in my life. |

Yes it does:
Hope that helps (I was a committed Symbian user, last phone was an E75 but I can't go back now). Fred |
