Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
even more than before, best phone tablet that i ever had!!
than now with the overclock, chrome new software and the new pr1.2 coming I guess i couldn t buy something better :-) in the same time I bought also a new laptop, very good one but i love so much more my N900 :-P |
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
Its a tough one because realistically there are some great handsets coming available......
On one hand I love my N900 and feel like I want to be with it forever and maybe have a baby with it. On the other hand I understand that its still a work in progress and we're still not too near to the finished product, and with the X10, N1 and other handsets its a tough one. In short, I'd still pick the N900 anyway because the other handsets don't make me moist. :) |
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
htc or nexus for me please.... even tho its flying at 900mhz, i still would get something else with capacitive for sure... htc or nexus....

Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
N900 was released in November 2009, so it is 4 months "old". There is no better OS and also no better device on market currently. MeeGo devices will not appear until the end of this year. So buying N900 now will leave you with nearly a year of enjoyment and then you can have new device. Waiting for greater new products to come is alway lost battle. There always be something better on horizon. Live now..

Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
yes I would buy it again.
|
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
id queue over night for one!
|
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
Yep, I'd have another. I don't think anything else would meet my expectations for power & flexibility now.
|
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
it's a very expensive web browser, and though I like the browser I wouldn't buy this phone again. matter of fact I need to sell the one I have
|
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
Yes, yes, yes!!! Excellent bit of kit. If you know what you are getting yourself into then buy it, but don't cry later when you don't have portrait view.........
Cheers, Barrie |
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
I definatley would but would advise anyone considering it to do reasearch and make doubly sure it has the features YOU want! Lots of dissappointed people on here for that very reason!
|
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
If my N900 broke today, I would buy a droid.
I really like my N900, it can do anything I want it to. But so could my N95 8GB. And I didn't have to repartition or install custom kernels to do it. |
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
damn straight
now is the best time to buy an n900, it like an iphone for people who understand technology |

Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
If for whatever reason I lost mine, I'd buy a new one straight away without thinking about it. It already does so much more than what I expected and with the PR1.2 coming (hopefully soon) it'll fix quite a few things taking it to a new level (based on a "community" changelog). Also meego is known to be running on it for sure either it'll be supported by nokia or the community itself. Also coming with the PR1.2 is Qt 4.6, which means most meego applications will be able to run on maemo5. As someone said before, the N900 is just starting to take off :)
...and for maaaaaany many more reasons, yeah.. go for it :) |
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
I need the BT mouse support, Android as a fallback and USB OTG was a big disappointment.
I have been a Tablet user for years and took these things for granted. |
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
I would probably buy the N900 again, but would also consider HTC Desire and Nexus One.
I purchase every two years, so I'm confident I will still find the N900 very useful in December 2011. It fits my requirements perfectly, as I love tweaking and flexibility, plus I don't make many calls and use mobiles for frequent web browsing. |
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
I would buy it for sure again !
|
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?
Yep id buy it again, infact i could not be without it now.
|
Re: Would you buy the n900 now?

Re: Buy a N900 now or wait for the Harmattan / MeeGo device?
The thread "Would you buy the n900 now?" with thirty-five posts has been merged into this thread.
|
Re: Buy a N900 now or wait for the Harmattan / MeeGo device?
Look over at the thread of people waitinf for the new firmware. You think waiting for Meego is going to be different?
Might as well buy the N900 now. It's ready. |
Re: Buy a N900 now or wait for the Harmattan / MeeGo device?
Personally Id wait unless a unpassable deal comes up for you for the N900 (Say someone sells it to you for 200 bucks)
|
Re: Buy a N900 now or wait for the Harmattan / MeeGo device?
So the overall push is to buy the n900, not much point to wait. MeeGo has no launch date for the n900 and the n9xx is still rumored so buying the n900 is an even keel shot.
ofc if I find one for $200usd I'd scoop it up in moments. Also just a thanks to sjgadsby for merging the thread, I tried searching for an existing one but knowing me I misspelled Harmattan. |
Re: Buy a N900 now or wait for the Harmattan / MeeGo device?
i,ve just got mine yesterday and overall I'm happy with it. I still haven't decided if I'm going to keep it or not since I have two weeks to decide. It's an amazing device, right now I'm typing from it. It's still hard to get used to it but I'm comming from the E series.
the major problems I have with it is staying connected to skype and the wlan, from time to time it decides to disconnect without saying anything. I still don't kmow if it's from my wireless or not so I have to test it a little more since this is a deal breaker to me. the browser is great and the phone has so much more potencial, I've seen what the future Iphone has to offer and I still think this is the best deal. another deal breaker would be the battery which I manage to drain in approx. 3 to 4 hours, but this is the beggining and you have to consider that except for sleeping it has always been in my hand, listenng to music, makeing photos, always connected to skype and wlan, etc. yesterday i couldn't even scroll properly, now I can I can hit the small quote and reply button without any problems, without zoom, and for didn't had this device, trust me it's small. I can tell you my opinion since I haven't got used to it yet, but this device has so much pottential, and after pr 1.2 is out we will havw Qt which means than in the short future, any program/app made for MeeGo or Symbian will be also usable on this one (if you have the right hardware - by this I mean, you can't expect to be able to use a program which will ask you for a hardware which you don't have). so you shouldn't care if you get MeeGo or not since the first meego device will come at the end of the year. also in the future it will be easier for the developers to develop application ussing Qt for more than one device which will mean bigger market for them since nokia it's the number one mobiles producer. now we have smaller markets since we have so many devices with differens resolutions etc. , in the future Qt will take care of that, makeing an application avavilable over all the platforms and devices. if you wan't to wait wait, but you're going wait 6-9 months for a device whith slightly better configuration but which which will run the sam programs as the N900. it make a review for the device in 2 weeks from my point of view, as a normal guy with almost no knowledge about linux, but good at understanding technology who comes from the E51, whithout ever owning an Iphone ar android. |
Re: Buy a N900 now or wait for the Harmattan / MeeGo device?
I have the HTC Desire coming tomorrow. i personally have been disappointed with some basic aspects of the N900 but equally impressed by other aspects.
I will use the HTC for a side by side comparison. Plan is to keep the best phone for me. Will report over the coming days. |
Shall I buy N900 or wait for Meego handset ?
Hello,
most of us are waiting to see if Nokia will release a handset handset with MeeGo. so should i buy N900 now or wait for 1or 2 months? |
Re: Shall I buy N900 or wait for Meego handset ?
Sigh.
Seriously? Why is it so easy to get a talk.maemo account and allow such posts over and over. Short answer: Yes. Buy it. MeeGo wont be out in 1/2 months. |
Re: Shall I buy N900 or wait for Meego handset ?
This question has been posted many times before.
If you have to ask, then wait. If you really need a new phone, buy it, Maemo is fantastic :) |
Re: Shall I buy N900 or wait for Meego handset ?
then post a link to the existing posts plz
|
Re: Shall I buy N900 or wait for Meego handset ?

All you need to know can be found by using the excellent search facilities on this site. I'm afraid you're gonna get grilled alive if you go asking such basic questions without making some efforts yourself... Most of us only get a few seconds to look in every now and again between work, etc. If you have any technical issues once you have a compatible device the community is here to support you. Best regards |

Should I buy n900?
First of all, sorry about my English.
Here is my first thread is this forum, so hi everyone :D I'm going to buy a new phone, and what I want is ... 1. Calendar - I just want to use calendar to remind me sometime. If it can sync with Windows Live Calendar, It will much better 2. Messenger - I like to online Windows Live Messenger all day, n900 good about this? (and Ovi Chat is it good?) 3. GPS - I never use GPS but now I want really good GPS that can take me to anywhere and not make me lost :D 4. User-friendly - I don't want a phone that hard to understand, I'm just a basic user, and use it easily so I don't want to edit with some code  5. SMS and MMS - I use both all the time I know that n900 can't use MMS, can I fix it or install something to make it work? That's all I want :) And last thing ...what about the future of n900, Should I buy it now or wait for a meego device? (I search many thread about this but I want the latest information. All thread that have is so old right now) Thanks a lot :) |
Re: Should I buy n900?
Simple answer:
No, you shouldn't buy it. It's awesome for people who know exactly what it is and what it can and can't do (yes, I love x-term). But Joe Average is probably better off with an Android device. |
Re: Should I buy n900?
Quote:
No you should not. It is not too good as a phone and has nothing to offer in APPS because maemo is got ditched by Nokia. Android has like 50.000 apps and most of devices are good at being phones. |
Re: Should I buy n900?
I think I know what it is but I want to have sure about all of these.
I don't like Android because I don't want to fix many thing like root or something. I want a physical keyboard and android only have Motorola Droid, I tried it and it really slow for me and in my country the Droid have many problems, I saw many people return it so I leave it. I always trust the Nokia brand, I never use other brand else. I tried n900 a few times, I like it, it have a good feeling when I use it, But I just want someone that can confirm about these, And I really worry about the future of this device. Thanks :) |
Re: Should I buy n900?
Another No...
I doubt you will be able to stay on windows live all day...unless you carry a spare battery in your back pocket.. user friendly: this is not so simple.. MMS: its a 3rd party app.. better get a phone with this integrated, you will have peace of mind and it will work best ;) |
