Is this available for anyone in the UK yet? I've done a few refreshes throughout the day, and it's not seeing this update!

Just for the record, I downloaded it via wifi and have had no problems.

I also notice no differences, so it'd be nice to know what has changed.

i got my update OTA in the uk around 2pm UTC. I'm with o2 and the phone came from them but as far as I can tell it's a standard unlocked model.

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade

with 32M in rootfs now juste 27M left , 4 or five updates and it's the end of my rootfs

For battery life problems i can use my N900 for 48 hours with wifi always connect at home and 3G via orange (france) all the day (emails....)
(i shutdown my N900 at night beetween 23:00 to 7:00)

before i had only 5 hour of battery life !

The only thnig i change is to not use "Disponibilité" (in french... i have a french n900 so ...) in 3G dont use yahoo,msn........ only with wifi
and battery life is now like other phones (but better than iphone)

so dont use instant messengers with 3G/GSM and your battery smile to you !

Hi guys, something weird is happening with my N900...

I tried to install the update, but it keeps telling me that there is no memory available! Iäm thinking wtf cause there is 28GB device memory, 1.8GB of installation memory and 4 GB on the memory card all free and available for the update!

I really don't know whats going on, i even deleted ALL my other apps just to be sure and reseted the device several times...

Is there a solution, or should i just flush the damn thing down the toilet?

A quick reply would be greatly appriciated!

Just some minor changes, I would not have updated if I knew that before since I didn't have the wifi battery drain issue.

And now I've lost my all 3-Star Angry Birds score :(

Welcome to the forums Danius.

Unfortunatley you only have 256mb for parts of applications (hard to explain quickly)

Read my post earlier for some help

Repost as people are asking the same questions again: (from here)

So far the update seems to be out in alot of places.

For anyone who has problems with not enough space/room for the update you can either

* Read this whole thread - skim it, as there are some good ideas.
* Look at the wiki pages - rootfs page
* Try some out there methods at cleaning up room (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ghlight=rootfs)

Please bear in mind some of the methods require root access, and there is a warning in place as you can do some damage, brick your device, and even turn it into a chicken if you are not careful! (That last bit may not be entirely true...)

Some root commands that can help, once you have root (Will not explain here how to get it.)

* df -h (To find out how much space you have on rootfs)
* apt-get clean
* apt-get autoremove

Removing applications will help....
Disabling testing and development catalogues/repositories.

And don't forget to reboot - always helps!

People seem to have a consensus of needing around 43mb+ - 50mb should be safe

Still no update from UK regionalised firmware v2.2009.51-1.203.2 available either OTA or via NSU

Can I hard flash my N900 to a Global version of the new firmware? It's a SIM-free, unbranded handset after all.

What is special about regionalised firmware anyway?

Vodafone Branded?

"To update your device to this version of the operating system you must use the Nokia software update application on your PC. Connect the device to your PC via a USB cable and launch the application."

There's been no message about not having enough space.

I guess it's time to trash more apps. Thing is, some of them were a b*tch to install and get working properly (Debian w/Cups, etc.) for me (noob). This is my main reason for not wanting to go the NSU route.

Any advice appreciated. I'm tired of spending so much time on this. I know the risks about installing from the Extras catalog, blah, blah. Frustrated.

Have now removed 27 apps with 56.8Mb on rootfs free. Still requiring update via PC. Ugh.

The "update via PC" notification is not related to rootfs free space, it's because you have an incompatible app installed that's blocking a direct update of some or multiple portions of the OTA upgrade.

i have a feeling that it depends on what manual upgrades people have done in the past too - havn't read the whole changelog but i've updated qt/python etc myself recently - so may be a smaller upgrade? (Not sure if it is that clever?)

Could also be battery % - it does like a good 70% for an OTA update....

Is it possible because there's a library discrepancy or conflict with one on your n900 and the one in the installation package or another reason not related to the memory size? Uninstalling to reinstall all those apps seems like a lot of work, is there a particular reason why you cannot just update via PC per the message?

N900 and other Maemo Devices are not idiot proof, nor are they meant to be. They give us the power to change what we want, therefore they assume if we change something, we should be able to fix it.

p.s. N900 is a 256Gb phone. :P Yeah, I went there.
