SE Xperia X1 running Ubuntu 8.04
Hey folks!
I just thought this could be interesting for some people. We already have Easy Debian running on the n900. Now a developer managed to run Ubuntu 8.04 on a X1: (three part video) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E0cEoOHFOc :) |

How well does it work?
What does it contribute to the device in terms of functionality? |

Edit: Flaming aside, it doesn't look like it works very well, bordering unusable. Doesn't contribute much to the device except some nice publicity. |

b) it removes core functionality in favor of the ability to run Linux/Ubuntu programs You could probably get Ubuntu running on the N900 as well. But why would you want to? |

Dunno I'd be siked to death (thus defeating the purpose) of a phone running Ubuntu. I love Ubuntu on my PC.
On the other hand, Maemo is an ***-kicker as well. I'd just like for developers to create Nokia PC Suite-esque support into Ubuntu so that I wouldn't have to use proprietary shiieieep. Sheep. |
