SE Xperia X1 running Ubuntu 8.04

Hey folks!

I just thought this could be interesting for some people.
We already have Easy Debian running on the n900.

Now a developer managed to run Ubuntu 8.04 on a X1:

How well does it work?
What does it contribute to the device in terms of functionality?

I don't see you posting this in the MacOS thread, or the windows 95 thread. Stop being a bias fanboy this is neat stuff.

Edit: Flaming aside, it doesn't look like it works very well, bordering unusable. Doesn't contribute much to the device except some nice publicity.

a) not well

b) it removes core functionality in favor of the ability to run Linux/Ubuntu programs

You could probably get Ubuntu running on the N900 as well. But why would you want to?

it's just cool to see that it works. ubuntu is not developed for running on mobilephones. (:

Hehe it looks awesome, but as you said it doesn't work very well

But then again, I'd take a half working ubuntu over winmo any day :p

I'd be all over that! I'd love Ubuntu on my phone, if only they could write a solid phone application for it. Too bad I don't know anything about programming!

Dunno I'd be siked to death (thus defeating the purpose) of a phone running Ubuntu. I love Ubuntu on my PC.

On the other hand, Maemo is an ***-kicker as well. I'd just like for developers to create Nokia PC Suite-esque support into Ubuntu so that I wouldn't have to use proprietary shiieieep. Sheep.
