hey man, nice to meet a fellow n900 owner in norwich! for a long time i thought i was the only one haha. and looking at the map you're not very far from me too, tho i didnt place my pin in the exact position. dont wanna give away the location of where my device is when im sleeping!

I asked Fargus why he didn't pin himself and he said 'for privacy' but I could pin him as long as it wasn't too close to his actual house,
He doesn't actually live here but since I asked him along with speculatrix to test out pininthemap.com and he didn't which lead to me not realising there is a two pin limit in the free version I put him there.

Unfortunatley we only have 3 N900's at MKLUG, one or two N8?0's though.(although a few people were very interested, some may crack, and buy one)

Pretty neat. Pinned as well.

Now, am I the only one thinking that this could/should have been done with Ovi Maps, and used our Maemo/MeeGo/Ovi profiles instead?

arjwright, i wondered the same, but this seems to have the anonymity where required and doesn't involve signing up for accounts or really configuring stuff, its just adhoc.
you can just put as much or little info as you want and as far/close from your house as you feel ok with

Activities like this is what the idea of a UI is a map tends to foster - and so sharing your location either ad hoc, or in accurate-but-imprecise ways is pretty much par the course.

That being said, if I can wrap my brain around some of the particulars - I'd post it as a brainstorm for a neat Ovi Map feature - and one that would probably push the idea of POI into exactly what Nokia needs to see from this platform.

Sorry for the side tracking all; please carry on pinning the Maemo on the globe :D

Trying to put my pin down, but every time I click the map it sets my pin to the channel islands (in front of the coast of Santa Barbara, California). I am in LA, but it won't let me add it. Any thoughts???

Pinned. Helsinki, Finland. Not too many pins on Finland or other Nordic countries. Wonder how many N900's one pin represents? I personally know four N900 users (collegues).

theres so many people with n900s that just dont exist on any of the forums

There are a lot of Chinese speaking N900 fans, which include those that own and those that are planning to buy. Case in point: maemoers.com a popular forum.

I am in China but I bought my device when I was in the US. N900 prices here are about USD100 more expensive than in the States, depending on the importer.

Europe looks funny. It's like someone tied a firecracker the size of London to an N900 shipment. It's like a splatter pattern.

Anyway, "me too", added Bucharest (first!).

Can I add more pins for people I know to have N900 but are not forum members?

Sure. I just don't like the colour of that particular cloud. Don't take it too seriously though, for me it's just a kind of game, or sport. I just wish more people would participate.
