N900, Possible to use IR for TV Remote?
One thing I can always seem to find is my Nokia N900, one thing I can never find is my universal TV remote. It's probably because the price difference is around 495 US dollars.
What I was wondering, is if anybody currently is working on a Universal Remote application utilizing the N900's infrared port? Would really like to see something like this come out so I never have to worry about finding that old remote again, and so I can change TV channels in bars if somebody is watching "Women's Professional" anything. =) |

it's in extras devel repository. so be careful. this may cause problems. add repo in and install via app-manager. (for repositories search the wiki please ^^) |

a) Check out QtIrecco
b) If you change other people's channels, I hope the people watching are as responsible as you. |

*Facepalm* Didn't see it in the devel repo!
I figured this would be a pretty quick thing to come out but didn't even notice it. Thanks guys. |
Re: N900, Possible to use IR for TV Remote?
I have downloaded QtIrreco. It is working fine but I have a JVC TV and I couldn't find it on the list. Is there any way to add it ?

Re: N900, Possible to use IR for TV Remote?
I think there is a code that is called tv at the end . pick that and it will only work for power volume inpute mute channel. if you want other buttons you have to look for the make and model ..

Re: N900, Possible to use IR for TV Remote?
And if you are tired of watching TV and want to turn off your TV quickly then look not further at TV-B-Gone For N900. It's a brilliant fun little application which quickly turns ANY European or US TV off.
Of course if you like you could try this app out at your local pub or Sports bar or even your local TV Store. (my personal favourite). ;) |

Press the icon and it times down... In my experience within a few seconds it has switched off the TV and has instantly annoyed a lot of people. Aaaah, the power of my Nokia N900. :-) I bet you are itching to try it at your local pub / sports bar... hehehe! :D |

Re: N900, Possible to use IR for TV Remote?
can we have some more remotes for irreco, this thing is cool but I only found one unit. I plan to put all my remotes in my N900.

Re: N900, Possible to use IR for TV Remote?
theres a whole selection of remotes you can download from the database, the problem is they're all user created and many haven't been created that well (to the point that they dont function) although many do work its all pot luck. you can edit the buttons and themes, also theres an option to create your own remote and upload to the database, but since there doesn't seem to be any way i can find to enter new irda codes other than using the ones from remotes already in the database, its not really useful.
