I'll finish up that cross and put on some finishing touches for you this week mate, break it down into the five sections we talked about previously and get the images off to you. How do you want them, in terms of format - *.png?

Any format is fine (I have CS4, so can butcher or change if needed)
Download the new version and see what ya think? - looks like i can flatten buttons using CSS - so that might be easier then added button images! (Might just put the buttons on top of a background image!)

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Hm....? Can't seem to find the latest version mate...?

Also, autoupdate doesn't seem to be working either :| strange.... Either that or my 900 is FUBAR, which it shouldn't be....

<offtopic>

I like CS4 functionality but don't like the tabbed format of the main window - much prefer the window based layout of CS3. On a sidenote Adobe emailed me last week to let me know about the soon-to-be-released CS5 - looking forward to that after the addition of vibrancy adjustment layers and video insertion in CS4 :D

I think it would be easier that way than creating different views for each tab. Noticed that QT supports png for resource images

naaaaa, lots of people have app manager issues :D - hold tight, things are being done by the elves at the moment :D

hehe, agree with the window format, but you do get used to it :D

ooo CS5 - yay!!! :D :D

Yeh ok, another n00b moment, switched to GSM to conserve battery last night and didn't re-enable 3G or HSDPA....

Got the latest version installing now mate :D

Did take well over 3/4 hours just to get that bit working, documentation is sparse, and not a CSS expert so kinda working blind here!

Previously mikec has helped showing how to use images, but i'm not using qt designer/creator - hand coding the lot :|

So progress unfortunatley will be slow - but hopefully heading in the right direction!

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Ooooh am liking the buttons :D :D :D very nice indeed!

Can you change the buttons using CSS and sub them for image files...? If so, give me some pixel dimensions and I'll scrub you up some shiny ones :D

Also, was thinking - if you're going to use CSS then does this make the cross irrelevant...? Or is the cross going to be acting as a "homepage" with the CSS kicking in after that with the click of a section of the cross?

doksng 2010-04-20 07:35

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

probably you should try qt creator/designer as it allows you to place images on icons and forms easily ( i.e. after you cross the hurdle of knowing how to create the resource file)

Version 1.1.1-3

Changes:
Nearly all first tab(Comms) information rows update per click
Added system load (From uptime)
Added a CSS StyleSheet
Minor change to the application description (Package list)

I have had some great emails assisting me, the last from doksng. I really appreciated this! :D - i also appreciate the work put into your photoshop layouts :D - they do look great.

So with that noted, i apologize at my early crappy attempt! - I've noticed pyQT does not like CSS much, managed to get a white working, but it looked rubbish :| and since that i couldn't get any other colors working :| Will spend this week playing around to see what i can sort out :D

Nice design:D looks better...

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Thanks Pabloniss,
Got a few little things i want to get through later tonight:
Sort out an issue where lists 1st selection is in blue - then converts to the green
Update buttons and drop downs to new style....

Then (Or if you want an early release can do nowish!) - will package it up to Devel.

Then i will start working on button sizes - will post them here..
Good question earlier on the Health cross - might still use it :) - i have me an idea with that one! :D

Some ideas for things which could be tested:
-Camera Dual LEDs
-Accelerometer test (I know there's acc. status but something like the accdisplay or attitude)

Nice app, my N900 seems healthy!

Ey up fella :D here is the cross, broken down into the five sections as discussed. Currently in *.png-8 format but can change to anything you want. Also have the original *.psd as well if you want that :D

Should be broken down to a suitable pixel size for the screen, but if it needs changed let me know.

Also, working on the buttons, give me some pixel dimensions for what you currently got and I'll add some nice shiiiiny effects to them for you!

Good question.... I have a script to help with that...

The question is.... With or without dependencies? ;)

Damn Photobucket accounts. They take soooooo loooong to get going. Which reminds me. I have my own webby registered and hosted. I simply haven't got the faintest idea how to...... Get anything there! Realistically all I want is FTP access but I can't even configure my FTP client for direct linking to images. Any pointers would be great.....

Thanks for the offer of getting to your hosting mate - nice one. I've got the FTP client configured for root access to the site directory but once I get anything uploaded I can't bloody link to it! Can't configure the direct link for love nor money, and haven't got a clue why!

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

i hardly use it my side, but it'll be a direct upload into an http://environment - so use it all you want :D - details to follow tonight! :D

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Well, what i meant with an accelerometer testing suite is something with which you can watch the accelerometer status live. Numbers which update themselves live, but also some graph as in accdisplay

Are you sure you're uploading images to the public folder of your account, not the account's root (these are generally not the same)? If you want a hand sussing it out i'd be happy to take a look at the acct for you if you let me know it's details.
Great job with the images, also.

Thanks nidO, I'll PM you the details for you to take a look. Not sure about configuring FTP serverside - fine with clientside but pretty new to the web tbh. You give me a PC with a problem, I can fix it, you give me a network with issues, I can fix it, and in time I will be able to do the same with web as well, but right now I'm a deaf, dumb, and blind man trying to find his way around with a broken nose in the dark.

Thanks doksng - need to work on the clarity of the sheen on the small buttons but that wont take too long. ATM they're a little fuzzy at the edges but thats what you get for resizing a rasterized shape layer - cheap tactic, ultimately knew it wouldn't work but thought I'd give it a shot to simply get the images done in time :P

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Ok, so I can't configure the FTP to access the site directory from work but from home I have full access to the entire site, so remoting into home and transferring files there then hosting them is fixed :D Thanks very much to both nidO and noobmonkey for your efforts in getting me up and running with http: hosting :D :D :D
