ooo sorry missed that one :D

Boot count is a very interesting number as far as i am aware -
Power off/power on should drop count to zero or by a minimum of 6 or something like that. Each soft reboot will increase count by 3 - other things seem to affect it.

Has been posted before somewhere saying things can go wrong on the device if it goes above 40/45+ etc....

edit : - yes, Zero is good! :D

In my opinion, you should keep your app's focus mostly on testing, and mostly non-destructive (readonly) testing at that. Branching out into changing settings and so on, seems like something for a different app.

Oh ok, I see how it works now.
Perhaps then put a little coloured marker after this if possible, e.g. green tick for 0-16 say, yellow exclamation for 17-32, red cross for 33+ etc?

Or maybe just a description - 0 = "hard rebooted"
non zero = "soft rebooted"
> 32 or whatever = "Power cycle needed"

Keep it up noobmonkey, you're doing a grand job! :)

Thumbs Up
Don't vote up an application before having a good understanding of its quality based on your own testing and the opinion of other contributors involved.

Thumbs Down
Whenever you decide to vote an application down, please leave a comment describing the issues you found. The best feedback is a bug report from the bug-tracking system of the application because it allows the developers and testers to track and discuss the problems effectively. Voting thumbs down without any explanation doesn't help the developer in providing better software for you and the end users.
Thanks in advance for any help, votes etc :D w000p - lunch time!

Yeah that does make sense :D - think a few of my fields need that (Root space being one!)

It's in extras-testing so vote away! :D - will probably let this one go through, if it is good enough while i work on the next updates :D

Have you updated your firmware since? - that made the front camera better. Also i take 10 buffered shots and use the 10th, seems to allow a bit more light in.

Could in theory do 100+ but it takes time :D
Thanks for the feedback.

Voted and gave a big thumbs up. Hopefully everyone else will do the same and get it into Extras so more people will have the oportunity to try it.

Thanks again Casper :D - i need to list the mini issues again i think, but hoping none of them are show stoppers. :D

Things like the odd missing notification icon... But the app still works :D

could you keep the labels always showing so one knows what the page contains. So when you click update it will get the actual values to correspond to the labels. just seeing a black screen before hitting update isn't so nice

yeah thats quite doable - could just load up an empty listbox... (With names)
Or i suppose now the speed is better i could load up the values on load of the application again...

Oh..fogot..

speaker test also must be good...for both 2 speakers & earpiece

noobmonkey 2010-03-04 13:36

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

hehe yup :) - i think the earlier idea of testing channels is a good one - so a left and right channel test for the speakers :D
Headphone/headset test is a good one too :D

Mic - i'm not sure on will investigate it though :D

V 0.5.2-4 - Going in to Extras-Devel
This one may cause a few issues -
Added a new dependency to test the speakers (Not audio channels yet, but does test mono + stereo)
Also - filled the tables to start the program (Empty values)

noobmonkey 2010-03-04 19:26

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Stereo
Code:

        b = None
        b = os.popen('pacat --channels=2 /usr/share/sounds/ui-wake_up_tune.wav')
        b.close ()

For mono
Code:

        b = None
        b = os.popen('pacat --channels=1 /usr/share/sounds/ui-wake_up_tune.wav')
        b.close ()

Package depends on - pulseaudio-utils :D

Repositioned tool buttons
added a notification box. Anyone know how to change the failed icon on this one?

Have tried all variants :(
Code:

bus = dbus.SessionBus()
        proxy = bus.get_object('org.freedesktop.Notifications', '/org/freedesktop/Notifications')
        interface = dbus.Interface(proxy,dbus_interface='org.freedesktop.Notifications')
        interface.Notify('HealthCheck', 0, '/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/healthcheck.png/healthcheck.png', 'Comms Tab', 'Finished Loading', [], {}, 2000)

I don't know if you have fixed this already, but perhaps the icon error has something to do with that extra /healthcheck.png in the Notify() function:
interface.Notify('HealthCheck', 0, '/usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/hildon/healthcheck.png/healthcheck.png', 'Comms Tab', 'Finished Loading', [], {}, 2000)

How about if you put just the name of the icon instead the full path and extension? In this case just 'healthcheck'. At least some system icon stuff works this way.

Works well!! - well, apart from my icon is too big for the little area :D

So if healthcheck works.... is there a list of standard N900 icons, like 'information'? :D

Just installed 0.5.2-5 test sound works great. As per post above had to install pulseaudio-utils manually though.
