Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

ok, i still cant install this, it now says i need gstreamer and audiopulse.

noobmonkey 2010-03-08 20:17

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

To install run this in a X-terminal
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get install gstreamer-tools

Then for pulse audio
Code:

sudo gainroot
apt-get install pulseaudio-utils

(Won't need the gainroot part of this one if you are already root)

Hmmm doesnt explain why you can't install it auto-magically though :(

hmmmm not available? - thats really odd too. Looks like that may be the cause...

Can you post the exact message please? :D

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

package pulseaudio-utils in not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source.
e: package pulseaudio-utils has no installation candidate.

what Firmware have you got? :D

hmmmm - just some basics first, disable extras-devel then (Close app manager)

In terminal,

Code:

sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Then try installing pulse-tools again :)

Do you have the Nokia repositories enabled in application manager?

noobmonkey 2010-03-08 21:01

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

try sudo gainroot first, then miss out the sudo commands in the bits above.

See my post #243 in this thread.
Download audio-utils from that attachment save to N900 then in xterm.

Code:

sudo gainroot
cd MyDocs
dpkg -i pulseaudio-utils.deb

You should then be able to update.

Ok saved it to n900 but its in tmp folder(dont have a MyDocs folder), when i run it through file manager/application manager it says incompatible application package, when i try through x terminal it does not find it(maybe because it not in MyDocs but i cant get into any other folders)

Code:

cd MyDocs/tmp
This will get you to the right folder then run the dpkg command.

The default folder when you save anything to the N900 is the MyDocs folder. Hope this sorts it out.

a great app, is now even greater. great work.

one Q. Vibrate tests...its not the same vibrations as when you use it for calls or alarm. why?

Cootje 2010-03-11 21:39

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

I'm wondering if this is a know bug. I start HealthCheck, the app seems to initialize and then the app quits. I would really like to see this app in action. Any idea what I can do to make this app run?

Extra info:
I tried to upgrade gstreamer-tools, but already the latest version.
I tried to upgrade pulseaudio-utils, but already the latest version.
I'm using healthcheck 0.6.0-5

P.S. From what I see in this forum and the screenshots... Wow! I'm impressed!

In the new version i'm working on you can select patterns to try :D

Thank you very much :D

Ooo that doesn't sound good at all :|

Ok, so you have latest version of all... There are a few things you can try........
If you are comfortable with xterminal load it up and try this
Code:

cd /home/opt/healthcheck
press enter, then
Code:

python healthcheck.py
The code is commented... so if it tries starting you should see lines starting with **

There are some warnings, but I'm very intrigued to see how it gets :D

i'm thinking possibly a python or qt issue - but hopefully the above will help! :D
one other person has issues with this app, but he's got a funny device :D (Developer) - if we do get to the bottom of this, i will post it as a bug :D (If it is one!)

noobmonkey 2010-03-12 09:12

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Should really add my plans for the next version :D - a few of them are
Sound selector - pick which sound, which type (Mono, stero) and which speaker if i can
Vibrator pattern - drop down list to select time or patterns
Led Pattern Selector
Turn off device Function

Add a collection of more useful device info fields

Allow the user to select the line in the information fields list and update that field individually.

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

Found a minor cosmetic issue - if I've got the USB networking enabled then the N900 has two internal IP addresses. In this case, the second one is appearing underneath the "Internal IP" label, rather than alongside, or below, the other IP address.

noobmonkey 2010-03-12 10:06

Re: [Annouce] HealthCheck - Hardware/System checker for the N900

ooo freaky deaky!!! - never expected two! :D
(Saying that, never got usb networking , working :D)

Will add some more catch'all statements on some of the info fields :D

Could you chuck a screenshot up? (Blurring out ip's if you wish? - or mail me it?)
Would be good to see exactley what happens :D

On that note - if you happen to be on the moon or mars, the gps ticker might get confused and overlap too :D ....
Not sure i'd need to update that in any version soon though ;)

4 days to go and it will be a live package in maemo downloads :D :D

wohoooooooooooo (Unless of course people start voting down en-force :D hehehe)

It worked from the commandline. And once started it also works from the menu. So it works for me now, but not sure if it's a bug or not. Can it be that a file is written the first time you boot which works from the commandline but not from the menu?

hmmm interesting.... it doesnt write anything on load up at all..
When you test the front camera it does write a file to mydocs....

Thank you for trying it though. - not sure how to determine if it is a bug without it continuing to happen :|
