According to the website, there should be a release announcement shortly before the Blackhat and Defcon conferences, which are at the end of this month. So release should be sometime between the 24th and 27th of July.
Time for me to buy a memory card...

Anybody knows how big the size on the sd card will be ?

It's a chroot image, most likely ~2GB in size. You don't need to multi-boot it since you're simply jailing over to another root directory.

An SD card shouldn't be an absolute requirement, it can be compressed and loop mounted from an image if need be.

At the moment, we know this:

- chroot image (same usage as Easy Debian) with (almost) all backtrack tools

- Hildonised (Maemo 5) control panel i.e. for quick MAC address change

- Packet injection with non associated AP will be possible (patched wifi driver, I am curious at how will them distribue it ? Custom kernel ? Kernel module to load ?
I hope that Titan will add packet injection with his custom kernel like it is for fully working wifi monitor mode.

The beta release announcement will align with BH and DC time frame. This doesn't necessarily mean it will be publicly available, however.

It takes a lot more to get this going than you guys seem to understand. So have some patience. Donating to the project would also be nice, it takes time and energy, and the BackTrack guys are some of the best people to be doing it. Show some support.

Hit the Read More button and it is clearly bad news. And the donate button seems to have disappeared too... late night last niight so maybe I'm missing it.

Was planning to donate after I'd seen the beta but would be prepared to donate now if it helped encourage some of the devs to give this project a little time.

Great... This sound like the next Duke nukem 3d.... The PUBLIC beta will not include the injection driver nor the control panel which makes it pretty much useless,as many of the pen test apps have been ported to the n900 anyhow. Anyway,see ya in X months :X

I think it is ok how they do it now.
Better a good and working Pentest Software, than some piece of half working crap that looses your interest.
Sure, everybody is a little bit sad by not getting it right now, but better sad then sorry :)
I'll stick with my eee+BT4 till it is done to learn how to "do" things faster ;)

I just read the site and wow. I'm from the country and we got a saying, "A closed mouth don't get fed". Meaning people don't know what you don't say. You need funds for your "free" project than why not come here and post hey guys I'm really trying to speed this up I need donations. I know at least 80% of the people who posted in this thread was going to donate. So why not hit all the maemo type websites and speak up about needing donations. Even post it on your website and send out emails to people who signed up for the email updates that donations are needed to get this project off the ground. I know 100% I was going to donate but kinda glad I waited cause seem like this might not see the light of day.
