Re: Got an N900 and a Mac, look here...
Instead of or in addition to a cron job one could hook to various notification systems on the N900.
The idea is indeed very cool and needs just a bit of refining (I already have some ideas, time unfortunately I do not have). |
Re: Got an N900 and a Mac, look here...
Yeah, the shutter closed system notification would work well.
But remember it's a 2-way sync, so even though the n900 has sat doing nothing all day you might have edited some pictures. So you still need to sync over cron aswell. Linux or windows compatibility would be easy. Linux is trivial - it's just exactly like the N900 end (plus whatever you need to do to get pics wherever you organise them). Windows supports unison, but I don't know enough about regular scheduled jobs there. I know it needs refinement. As I say it's proof of concept. I'm also short of time, and only have the N900 a short time before I have to return it, and I've other cool things I want to try and make it do. |
Re: Got an N900 and a Mac, look here...
Are there any other Linux users interested in getting this working again?
There are a few things in here I'd like to look at from a total OTA media sync point of view. For instance: -- When you're on a wifi connection, sync music, if it could do this automatically that'd be great |
Re: Got an N900 and a Mac, look here...
"working again"? it still works.
Syncing music on a (maybe specific) wi-fi connection would be easy enough. I might be getting my own N900, in which case I'll work toward packaging this up as an app, with the N900 and various server ends separate, so you can use whatever you want. I'm extremely short on free time for the next few months however. |

No, I mean working together on it, try and get some kind of community project up on it.
Of course it's working, I just don;t really know the ins and outs of getting it up as a project here... |
