Skype logs
Hello,
There is a way to use skype built-in software in debug mode? I'm trying to identify the reason about why I can't connect Skype when connected to 3G network. Via Wi-Fi Skype works perfectly. I just can't use it when using 3G... Note that this is the only service that I can't use. SIP, Jabber, and everything else works without any problem. Skype is the only one that don't work on 3G... I call to 3G company, they guarantee that is not blocking Skype services, but I need investigate because I suspect that is not true. Using skype on debug mode, I can try to see hostname used to authenticate, ports, and any other information that could help. |
Re: Skype logs
I hope Skype too, but not works in my 900 :(

Re: Skype logs
where are you both located and on what network? Works perfik for me in the UK even when not on 3g... Does it show you are connected in the availability section?

Re: Skype logs
I'm connected via Vivo/Brazil using 3.5G. My IM status is Green with an exclamation mark. When I click to see all IM statuses Skype is the only one with (X) status and a small message: Network error.
How I said, works perfectly with Wi-Fi. |
Re: Skype logs
Mine skype call works on both 3G and wifi :D

Re: Skype logs
That is the reason that I would like to be able to debug skype application, look ip/hostname used to authenticate with Skype services and try to find any block.

Re: Skype logs
Someone can confirm hostname and port used to 'authenticate' on skype? I'm not referring to random ports used while you are in a conversation, but the auth service. So I can try to ping/telnet host/port.

Re: Skype logs

Re: Skype logs
I can't really help since everything works for me (O2 Germany) but a quick Google search turned up this thread about some admins attempting to block Skype.
The IP they provided is no longer valid or will not respond to pings. Quick way to get the authentication IP is to use wireshark/netstat after opening a connection with Skype. Do this on your desktop, see if you can ping it and if not then the IP is probably filtered. This if from 2006 so some things may have changed http://forums.isaserver.org/m_2002000643/printable.htm Quote:

Re: Skype logs
I'm connected via ssh on my device trying to identify the hosts using 'netstat' command... But it's not possible... I can't see any skype related IP addresses on table.

Re: Skype logs
There are some networks blocking skype...like TELCEL here in Mexico. It works fine with WiFi, after a searching other websites I found out that skype does not work with TELCEL regardles of phone. What is interesting is that it works fine while roaming the TELCEL network with a UK Tmobile sim card, but the Tmobile data charges are very, very high roaming internationally.
