Anyone considering sending the deb to anyone needs a short sharp shot to the nads. After the way every goddman holier than thou poster villafied the creator of hoops frenzy for simply getting qa on his app faster than he should, I would have expected you moral outrage to have spilled over to this. Like I said in that thread, you are only outraged when it suits you.

I don't need to earn their trust, they need to earn my money. I can live without their product, they'll wither and disappear without money.

DRM is false security whereby corporations treat their customers as the enemy and punish the paying customer, it's really that simple.

drm shouldnt be used for this. Did the industry learn nothing of the music business?? i will never buy any drm music ever again. With me many many people. Just trust people dont ask big prices and then you will sell a lot as a company

for example angry birds level pack for 3 dollar/euro do you really think there are a lot of users who are hunting for a free/cracked copy because of that price? And if they are doing that do you really think that they all would have bought it otherwise??

i think that the factor that uses now cracked copies that would buy the product otherwise if they couldnt get a cracked copy is very very low. For example kids with a xbox 360 which is cracked. they buy some games and are using some other cracked games.. do you really think they would have bought all the games if they had to? dont think so, because they cant spend what they dont have.
i am curios for example for this: xbox 360 is cracked, PS3 isnt what is the ratio of games sold according to the number of consoles sold?? i think thats close. Also what is even more horrible is that for the system that isnt cracked the games are most of the time more expensive!!!! The industry always told us 'yes if there wherent thst many illegal copies we could lower the prices' How come the opposite seems to be true??

If you don't want their product in the first place, then you're not a potential customer of them anyway. Moot.

To get the correct perspective, substitute the content with something that you would likely purchase (movies, music album, games, etc that you want and are willing to pay for).

Now, if there is a content publisher that you like and respect, perhaps you'd care about the phenomena of irresponsible people pirating their goods too.

Not true, there have been some games on the PC that I have been interested in buying but I do not want the DRM crap (rootkits etc) that comes with them so I will just skip it completely! Also some of the newer mechanisms they are coming up with are basically killing off the second hand market for games which is only bad for the consumer - see http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/18/s...ame-hits-used/

Same goes for Music, If I buy it and have no desire to share it with others then why should I be punished for it with features limiting what I can do with it i.e. the three device limit they used to impose (computer, mp3 player, phone and thats it!) and the fact that not all devices could even read the DRM in the first place!

DRM is bad news for honest people, if you are dishonest then DRM is only a delay in the cracking process... Locks and Alarms do not stop cars being stolen, they only delay the process for the determined thief, DRM is similar... NOTE: I am not proposing we abandon locks and car alarms anytime soon it is just an analogy!!!

I guess I was lucky with the angry birds level pack as I managed to buy it before it was taken down but now I am getting annoyed that the sygic maps app still has not been released and I think it is due to this problem so yet again the honest consumer gets punished by having to wait longer while they shore up the defenses against the dishonest... Very annoying...

Oh if it isn't then what is it? Prove to me that Assassin's Creed 2 booting you out of the game whenever it can't contact Ubisoft isn't abusive. Prove it to me when they cut off those servers and you can't play anymore, like when MS killed a bunch of PlaysForSure servers.

Ok. I buy plenty of games with minimal DRM, nothing beyond Steam, which Valve has worked hard to make sure it actually provides -benefits- to the user instead of acting as a ball and chain.

I would certainly like to try other games, but they seem to be infected with **** like what Ubisoft is pulling with Assassin's Creed 2, or they have SecuROM and activation limits. They are designed -purely to screw the paying user.- Punishment for actually buying.

I buy regular CDs, thankfully no encrypted method has really taken off and DRM has fallen by the wayside for digital purchases (which I don't really make.)

Movies I tend not to buy, but BD+ is regularly cracked and CSS is outright dead. I applaud their efforts.

The simple fact is that DRM is a means by which content providers gain false security, abuse their paying customers, and do not impinge upon pirates in the slightest. As such I will alway oppose DRM, but I will also pay for content I want and enjoy IF and ONLY IF the producer doesn't see it fit to abuse me for it.
