let me add to my problem by saying that my Mastercard has a second verification process. After you submit your details normally you are rerouted to another page where you have to input your mastercard verification password. This is not happening, and it could be related. This however would not explain why the Visa Check card doesn't work, as no such mechanism is enabled for it.

If you're still on the UK firmware then you'll need to install it from the command line. Make sure you have rootsh installed, then do:

read this page below, in this thread it will learn you how to install the deb.
you will need to use xterminal and have root access i believe
did you not have the option to install from app manager or save file when you purchased like i did?
choosing app manager is simpler

Thansk guys, worked perfectly. I checked some other threads and I probably did have the option to run with app manager btu saved it to docs like a fool. First time i've used x-terminal for anything productive.....and it feels good! Just wondering why the UK has had the firmware update yet whereas it looks liek everywhere else, any news?

I'm on the uk firmware too but took my payment with VISA no problems. I found Mastercard to generally be a pain on the net for several large sites, maybe it's a mastercard issue that's ongoing?

I just bought it on my UK N900 with a UK Mastercard.

I second this. Its likely that all cards having Verified by Visa and the Mastercard equivalent system enabled cannot use their cards. So only those whose payments aren't verified with online banking credentials are able to buy.

I just don't understand how and why it is so fricking difficult for such large organization like Ovi to get their act together and quit messing around with these half-baked crap solutions...!

Why it's just working with the UK and not with the german or any other fw ?

Rob, you need to install the pack first. If you have the new firmware you can double click on the downloaded deb file to install it. If not then you can open a terminal window, use root to gain super user mode then type:

dpkg -i packagename

where 'packagename' is the filename including the path to your deb file.

Hope that helps. You will need to install root from app manager though if going that route.

My card is a UK Visa and has verified by Visa as well. Worked fine for me though the normal second set of screens didn't appear.
