are you in the UK, or have a N900 from the UK?

If so the update is not available yet. It looks like it may be bundled with the next update

p.s. there are many posts in the forums about this :) - if it is the above problem?

blackemnc,
first of all, was "!!!!!! HELP>>>>>>>" really necessary? No, I don't think so. By choosing this thread title you have already put quite a few people off who might be willing to help you out.

Secondly, please read your post. Yes, I want you to read your own post again. Do you really think you have given enough information so people can help you? No.

1. Can you confirm your current Firmware is 2.2009.51-1
2. More information on ota not working needed. Does it show the possible updates yes/no, does it show them but not install them yes/no...
3. What did you try on your laptop? What software? Again, inadequate information.

It's not that I don't want to help you, but I am trying to encourage as many people as possible to format their posts PROPERLY with dots, commas, maybe exclamation marks (1 or 2, yes, but not 10 in a row), and learn how to properly post a help request, which is very easy to do if you put a bit of effort in it.

Yeah am in U.K. Thanx for the help guys.(and sorry for bothering)

ok i beg your pardon for my miss-usage of the forum.

This is why i was nervous: i just downloaded Prismic wallpaper manager, after i downloaded it to my PC, I send it to my n900 (via bluetooth). Then I located the .deb file through the file manager > i clicked on it, nothing came up except choose a program to open > i gave app manager to open with > nothing happened.....i don't know what to do now...

depending on how confident you are - you can flash to the generic global version, i did...

The wiki walk through is quite simple, but as with all instructions it can cause damage to your n900... so be careful :)

Can any one help me on installing Prismic Wallpaper Manager? Unfortunately I paid for it.

if you are desperate for an upgrade, just flash your phone to the global firmware image and then presto.....use the search button, it`s your friend!

you can download it to where you want :) but if its in the mydocs path you will need to run it in that path.
so
If it is in the mydocs folder

Code:

dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/filename.deb
(Caps sensitive)

You know the main n900 folder? In filemanager it's the picture of an n900 and it's called your bluetooth name? Move the .deb to that folder then re do the command

?? Sorry not sure what you mean?

Where did you download the file too? - if you downloaded it straight into your MyDocs folder, then thats where the file will be.

Imagine it was a pc.... In windows your my documents nowadays sits under c:\documents and settings\username\documents.... or something like that... similar on your n900, just a set of different folder names :)

In this case, here :D
/home/user/MyDocs/filename.deb

alternatively in terminal you can do :

Code:

cd /home/user/MyDocs/
Press enter, then
Code:

dpkg -i filename.deb
edit it may need the below, not sure
Code:

dpkg -i ./filename.deb
press enter

Once you are in the right folder you can type ls ( 'LS'- in lower case, ls is the same as dir in dos) It will then list all files in that folder.
