Re: N900 Video focus and led light, python script

thanks a lot khodorhijazi
I was struggling to figure out how to install this wonderful program and thanks to your easy to follow instructions i was able to install it

btw if xterminal says something about something being in use when using the apt get install commands then you probably have app manager running and need to close it

Hello everyone,

I am a new registered memeber at maemo.org, although i have been always a viewer of thsi website.

First I would like to thank "m2cm2c" for this great program and the ability he gave us to have a better imaging n900 device.

Based on my experiance, the following are the best ways to make lfocus work properly (through installation and making it appear in the bar menu):

1- Install Rootsh (if not yet installed)
2- open xterminal
3- type: sudo gainroot
4- type: apt-get update
5- type: apt-get upgrade
6- type: apt-get install python-hildondesktop
7- type: apt-get install hildon-desktop-python-loader
*after performing all the above steps:
8- install lfocus latest version lfocus_0.509-1
9- reboot the device
10- open camera lens (then tap once on the screen)
11- tap on the bar menu ( where the signal, clock, ... is located)

And their u have it, working as it should be.
m2cm2c and other users may have mentioned those steps previously, although what i wanted to do is put them in a chronological order for those not quite acquanted with such procedure.

Thank you

No matter what I do I am stuck with this message:
Application packages missing: python-dbus

FYI I downloaded lfocus_0.509-1_all.deb

So I followed this link to get it installed.

Strangely this doesn't show up in the menu (even after a successful install + reboot)! Cam slider is opened btw...

Thank you "khodorhijazi" for the install instuctions which I have followed until the Ifocus install. Can someone tell me as I dont know the full path to install from the com window ie I have downloaded the .deb file to my phone mem. I can nav there with file manager and when tapped on it asks which program to use, which i respond with App manager but nothing happens.

Sorry to waste bandwidth for those of you who may think I'm thick.but I'm sure I'm not alone.

Try installing the latest "lfocus_0.509-1_all.deb" version

It shouldn't ask you what program to use on it, and so you may be missing some application packages but the latest version has the packages added to them.

For those having problems with dependencies, please make sure you have the required repositories "catalogs" enabled from the Application Manager.

Re: N900 Video focus and led light, python script

Ah ! I'm getting Hash sum mismatch with catalogues. Zeb :-)

Installed it, no dependency problems whatsoever. Still doesn't work.
Did everything in khodorhijazi's instructions but it just can't get it working.

Maybe because I'm using PR1.2?
