Revive battery?

Having a problem with a suddenly-dead battery. It was working OK, and I used the n800 until totally dead. Now it won't charge; I plug in, the "nokia" screen comes on for a few seconds, and then shuts off. Spare battery works fine. I don't think the battery is fried, but perhaps discharged too much for the charger to work. I've had similar things happen with car batteries (and hooked up a known good battery to the old one for a few hours, then put the charger back on). thoughts?

Had this situation with N97 before, what I did was just leave the charger plugged in until there is a sign of life

Try to find a phone which uses the same battery and charge it in that phone. I think Nokia 5800 XM uses the same battery.

Not as the N800 it doesn't, but yes, either another phone or a desktop charger. You may be able to charge it directly via USB - just connect the + and - from the USB cable to the correct contacts on the battery and leave it for a little while.

Phones that use the same battery are N97, E71, E61i and E61 as far as I know.

I assume you are using the Nokia supplied charger? Other chargers may not provide the signaling that lets the tablet draw enough current to boot a completely dead battery. USB charging is definitely out.

Oh wow. I had it floating in my head but when I started writing I totally forgot. Yeah, direct usb charging should work but could be potentially dangerous. I wouldn't charge more than, lets say 60 seconds. That should be enough to start up the tablet, then you could charge as usual.

E71 definitely doesn't use the same battery, I have one right next to me and it has a higher capacity battery, at least when compared to the N900.

E71 uses same battery as N810, I believe. N800 uses a different battery, and N900 is yet another battery.

When my rechargable batteries start to lose the ability to hold their charge, I put the battery in the freezer overnight, then let thaw and dry. It's helped in many cases, depending on how far gone it is, including my Garmin...I just put the whole the whole thing in the freezer.
