run this in terminal:

date +%m/%d/%C%y

get the message: date +%m/%d/%C%y: not found

my guess from the response would be that you are missing a space between the date and the +

or

The IP is done using a different widget. in maemo extras I think. Not sure of the name of the top of my head.
