I found the TwiiterBox project in maemo garage - https://garage.maemo.org/projects/twitterbox/

The project description is:

Installed it yesterday, seems OK so far. Little buggy with the login (to be expected being an alpha release of course) but the UI is good.

UI is nice, but has not many features yet. Also doesn't use OAuth, so tweets will be from "API" and you only have 150 instead of 350 api calls per hour. Doesnt do much other than displaying your timeline. But looks promising.

€: Be aware that it installs the complete source under /src (700k) which will end up on the rootfs.

This has some promise, looks nice! Althou the 'Remember Me' thing on the front needs to start working asap for me, I have random passwords so can't remember it lol.

It works verry good for a Alpha version, i love it. Just need some more functions and the "Remeber me" button is not working for now. But i love the interface of this one. This could be the nr 1 twitter app for the N900 if more functions would be available.

Great client. I'll be in contact with the boys who are developing this, to submit bugs and code enhancements.

this blows. My extras devel fails to load and the link posted above refuses to work. It says 0kb everytime i try to download

finally managed to install it thanks to the instructions on meegoportal.

Looks amazingp though no DM, replies, search or anything else.
but its amazing for an alpha software.
can't wait for the release

I believe that twitterbox can be the best twitter client for n900. Keep going the good work dude.

I like Mauku's interface but it's buggy and doesn't have all the stuff in it.
Witter is complete, but the interface sucks bad.

This sounds like a good alternative, waiting for it.

I ve found 2 bugs: 1. I cant update my status using virtual keyboard.
2. I cant update my status using hardware keyboard writing in greek language.
