I wouldn't hold your breathe. The UK in general seems to have been slow getting the update but based on their performance on updates for Symbian firmware I would suspect sometime. Vodafone usually spend time once Nokia release the update checking things out themselves before allowing it to go out. Their is also the potential that they will want to have their own branding applied as well and the testing that would result in that too.

I'm on vodafone and I received the update this morning. I'm now running 3.2010.02-8.203.1. Should I not have this update?

You may be on Vodafone but you don't have the Vodafone firmware variant (you have the generic UK firmware). Did you get the N900 directly from Vodafone?

Re: New firmware update this morning in the UK 3.2010.02-8.201.1

if you bought from Carphone Warehouse you'll have Vodafone as your operator but you will NOT have the Voda 205 firmware, you will have the UK generic 203.

i dont see what testing they need to do as there is no branding at all on the n900 by vodafone (probably one of their best decisions)

Ah right, I got it from carphone warehouse. That'd be why.

I didn't get the update prompt in the status bar until an hour ago. You should have it now. Still unsure what the update actually does, but I've just returned from work and have another 5 pages of threads to read! :-)

I'm on vodafone and there is a maemo 5 update showing.
When I try to update it says to use the Nokia Software Updater.
When I use this it says I am on the current version already 2.2009.51.1

:(

The update worked fine here. Only thing i've noticed is that some of the About Product info from within the Settings are now unknown. WLAN Mac address, Blutooth address & IMEI showing but everything else unknown.

Why is UK getting thse updates late? This same thing happened with Motorola Milestone(Droid).
Is this for all N900 bought from UK or only phones bought from certain carriers?

Whilst this only seemed to clear up around 1mb of rootfs, the update is downloading as I type, no error message, hopefully it'll install ok once it's all downloaded.

Hi, how do I go about entering these commands? (sorry for my ignorance in these things) :)

Cheers

Corporate support for the device, most of the operators check that the device works to their own internal standards - all about due dilligence.

This affects both 203 and 205 (in fact the 205 doesn't appear ot have it either yet).

You need to use X Terminal application. From desktop, use menu button, choose More... then X Terminal.

I know this ois going to sounds lame (I had to check mine just to be sure) but have you tried a shutdown, pull the battery and then restart? Solved a few issues for me in the past.

Rootsh now refreshed and temp apps removed.

Oddly apt wasn't saying this was a clash of anything and it didn't do anything significant to my free root space.

Anyway, thanks I really don't like the idea of a desktop reflash. The only PC I have comfy access to is my work Linux workstation.

Same for me. I only worked it out because people were referring to openarena as being a problem. I'd installed it via dpkg rather than apt, so the dependencies weren't tracked and automatically removed when I uninstalled openarena.

It certainly has a carrier variant firmware.
