Re: nice problem. :-( free wifi is dead
Flashing eMMC is not difficult or dangerous. If your N900 worked at first, either you changed something or the network somehow changed. I would flash regular and emmc and see what that leads to. If it's not you, it's them. If it's not them, it's you.

the eMMc package wipes the hard drive and the firmware update cleans any program you had installed somewhere. Goto this site http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/nokia_N900.php and input your imei number and then you will be able to download the Vanilla eMMc package along with the latest firmware. You will see something to the effect of Vanilla eMMc. Flash the phone first with that image then do the firmware upgrade. You must do it in that order or the phone will act wonky. Using the Vanilla image wont mess up your phone. If you are brave enough to flash it yourself from the command line then this should not be a problem. You do the same thing you would when flashing the firmware. Just change the name to the vanilla package. Everything you need to flash your phone is there.

Re: nice problem. :-( free wifi is dead
I Flashed my N900. Nothing happened. I can not have internet but my device has IP. I think it was useless.
Any other ideas. Greetings |

Have you tried running netstat -r in terminal when connected to this wifi(you don't have to be root for netstat). You want to see if there is actually any gateway ip address listed. If there is no listing with a gateway ip address, there is no way for you to be routed to their public ip.
If there is no gateway, then something is happening when their dhcp server tries to pass this to your phone. You could ask the network guys if you could use a static address and configure the ip, DNS, and gateway addresses, through the advanced settings, though they probably won't go for it. You could also add a default gateway, get the address from the network guys, without having a static address, using the route command in terminal, though you need root for this, and you should read a little on the command and the options before doing this. |
