Facebook: "via Nokia N900" possible?

Im always seeing posts on facebook that say 'via iphone', or 'via windows mobile' etc.

Is there a way / app that would allow this on te N900?

Re: Via Nokia N900? facebook?

it actually works already. there should be a facebook image/video uploader app in the repositories. install it and set it up with ur account so next time u share with fb it says "uploaded via nokia n900"

Re: Via Nokia N900? facebook?

Re: Via Nokia N900? facebook?

I uploaded photos by my N900. Sometimes shows uploaded via mobile phone and sometimes show uploaded via NokiaN900 (yes no space between Nokia and N900). However, you can't update your status via Nokia N900!!

Ah, well thats what i want to do....

Re: Via Nokia N900? facebook?

Yeah I am also able to do this easily 'Uploaded via NokiaN900' it says, and created a mobile uploads folder for me automatically as well.

To this I have 3 programs installed:

1. Facebook Widget and Photo Uploader
2. Petrovich
3. Pixelpipe Media Uploader to the Social Web

All three do it but what you are after I think is Petrovich. This will integrate with you camera and you photo/video folders as well. So if you change the setting on the camera to never timeout the preview of the photo of video you have just taken, you will then have time to decide what you want to do. I would suggest if you want to upload video to make it no more than about 1 minute as it seems to not like file sizes larger than this, even over Wifi.

When you have got the preview window you will see a symbol between the tag and dustbin, this is the share button and it will allow you to set up your Facebook account to upload whenever, wherever or as often as you like. You can also do this from any photo or video from within the viewer program as well, adding your tags, comments and title of the photo or vid.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Dan

Uploading photos and videos is possible without Petrovich, it's only needed for other files.

FaceBrick is what you can use to update status messages.

Beware: It's in extras-devel, and may cause instability or brick ( ;) ) your device. (Unlikely, but possible.)

Get it from extras-devel.

Make sure you disable extras-devel after you're done installing it. Don't go on a shopping spree there; you might get a rotten tomato.

1 Attachment(s)
When I had an Facebook widget on my desktop, my battery was discharged pretty fast. After I removed that, and few other widgets, now my battery is good for 2 days.

About sharing to Facebook, you don't need any widgets.
If you want to upload a photo, just open a photo in N900, click the Sharing icon, click Share via Service (you have to configure a service once, prior to this) and that's it.

When using facebook on maemo does it say?

Facebook for maemo or is this app specific? It says that when friends use android and I would like it to say maemo when I use maemo. Not just for mobile.

Limo 2010-06-19 21:29

Uploaded via N900 or Using Facebook for N900

well lately i noticed that when i uploaded pictures it said that it is uploaded via facebook mobile although 2 months ago i uploaded photos and it said that it was uploaded via N900
another thing is that when i update my fb status it doesn't mention that it is through Facebook for N900 or anything, it's like updating it from a normal computer.
so any ideas how to make via N900 appear like what happens with Iphone and blackberries cuz i am starting to think that they have better features! :S

nosa101 2010-06-19 21:55

Re: Uploaded via N900 or Using Facebook for N900

Better features because it says "uploaded via iphone" or "uploaded via blackberry"
I thought the feature was uploading the picture on facebook

Facebook client service doesn't show in the select area when you try to select from the service part. It only shows OVI, Picasa (Because I downloaded the client), Flickr, and Select New services. When I click new services, still doesn't work.

You need the facebook plugin installed.

I can't find the plain facebook plugin in the repos or the ovi store anymore - all i can find is the combined pixelpipe plugin, which isn't what I want to use...
